I am a good mate! I've got an "I owe you one" in the bank - but I had selfish reasons for doing it, now he's only 7 hours away, and the drive to his new place includes a trip over the snowy mountains. Way better than 4 days and zero mountains :lol:

The cars were both 4cyl turbos! (OK, they were both turbo diesel fourbies - he's a farmer, if it's not 4WD and diesel it'll stay in whatever paddock it gets stuck in - but there was forced induction!)

Thanks to the butterfly brace Little Red has been 96mm from the ground since I put the MCAs in.

Today, that has been rectified.

It seems way too high now, and it's only gone up 11mm. We're now at 107mm ground clearance - basically rally spec.

I may have to put it back down 5mm :lol:

I've been trying to work out why the A/C in my car seemed to only be effective while travelling at low speeds for a few weeks now.

Hahahaha that'd do it. Out of curiosity, what does the stock ECU do? I assume it does something similar for high RPM use?

My tacho went dead after the cops install, I've now put a resistor in the ECU, but I did run one in the diag box in the engine bay for a while which did the same trick
. I can't remember which wires to join but i can look them up if that helps. Mx5 with no tacho sux

smy; I don't know the answer to your question, I've always turned the A/C off manually if I've wanted power - like a NOS button! :lol:

datfreak & speed; thanks gents, I'll have to fix it when I get home(*), my +B terminal is now the power to my WBo2 :(

*: I've tested my COPS install by driving up to coffs for the week. It's actually the longest drive the car's been on since I put the MS in, everything seems to be running nicely (except Idle, but Idle Hunt gives +10rwkw anyway, it is known) I did set a new economy record too - 522.2km and 35.04 Litres for 6.71L/100Km on the tank I commuted through Sydney with. The following tank was on par for a new record as well, but I went for a squirt up and down Waterfall Way and used closer to 10L/100Km for about 75Km... :)

The boosted life has been too good to you speed, we in the N/A 1.6 club don't need no stinkin' traction control! :P

I've pulled some logs from the SD in the ECU, the car topped out at 104degC going up waterfall way, I averaged 15L/100km going up the hill, and less than 2L/km coming back down, there was well over a minute without actually pushing on the throttle.

I like all this logging, if only the ECU transferred them a bit quicker. I've got it starting logging automatically every time I got WOT - which is pretty rare during normal driving - and stops logging when I stop the car. The SD card is 4Gb, and 30 minutes of logs takes up 11Mb, so I have a lot of space to play with.

I took myself for a little drive today, and found this website while trying to work out of it was sealed or not (there's about 20 k's of unsealed roads, but they're pretty 5-friendly)

The sealed parts are *very* 5-friendly, and more than make up for the couple of kilometers of dirt that are definitely not 5-with-stiff-springs-friendly. Most of it is pretty spectacular. There are a few places where looking out to the side is literally looking off a cliff, so don't take easily-spooked passengers :lol:

...then I need to go home and fix my tacho :lol:

Taken while stopped for roadworks coming down the Oxley Highway.

If you ever want to find out what's wrong with your car, drive it 3000+ kilometers in a week.

I need a wheel alignment after raising my ride height, well, a toe adjustment. Turn-in is amazingly vague compared to normal.
I need to fix my tacho after installing the COPS.
I need nylock nuts holding the COPS down, they vibrate loose.
I did fix my A/C.
Using the A/C with the lights down pulls the IAT up 25 degrees while the A/C fan is on. Using the A/C with the lights up makes no difference to IATs.
My "cold" air intake vibrated to bits and melted onto the extractors a little bit. It did smell like concern.
I need to make a real cold air intake.

Diff bushes, possibly with 1.8 LSD attached.
Engine mount rubbers.
Probably all the other rubbers and bushes.
R-Package tie rod ends.
1.1Bar Baro sensor for ECU (I accidentally ordered the 1.0Bar one, sometimes there can be more than 1 Bar of atmospheric pressure)

...then, we turbo it.... :lol:

(Then new guard, minor panel beating and a paint job from a professional)

Things that weren't on the list, but happened anyway:
New oil & filter, decided to trial 10W-40 instead of 10W-30, you know, for science.

Installed one of the Bride Lowmax Reps I purchased about 12 months ago. It looks cool, but I do not fit in any comfortable way - My hips are too wide to sit back far enough into the seat, and my shoulders rest on the upper wings so if I sit up straight, my back isn't actually touching the back of the seat.

If I slouch and squish myself in, it's like some kind of awesome hug, and it holds on to me like nobody's business while cornering - but my back is bent and bumps are - to put it as politely as possible - really farking painful.

Changing gears is also awkward, as is closing the door, and getting in and out, and if the seatbelt slips behind the shoulder support I have to open the door to get it, and my legs now hit the steering wheel. In short, don't buy a seat you've not sat in.

So, now I have a pair of red Bride Lowmax Reps to sell... probably not to an MX5 owner though, unless you're 5ft tall and weigh about 60 kilos, in which case you'll love them.

They do look cool though, and having an actual headrest that's behind my head is amazing.
