If you ever wondered why your ND has those blanks in front of the front wheels and behind the rear wheels it's so 'Muricans can fit side reflectors. Apparently cars there are invisible without them. But then the same country allows you to successfully sue Winnebego if you expect the cruise control to allow you to nip into the back to make a cup of tea.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

My wife CX5 has a squeak....in dash
She told Mazda at last service and the replaced the shock absorbers in the front...10 points for effort...didn't fix the squeak
I tried to get an expert to fix a squeak in NA8 rear suspension....thought they would know what all the noises in a 20 year old car would be...;)...they replaced rear shockies and bump stops....didn't fix squeak
Had a rattle in front suspension after New brake pads installed....took it back....they replaced front shockies...rattle not fixed, I suggested pads were lose....I was right
Reality is ....you will have to hunt down squeaks and fix yourself.....Mazda will make a best guess
I'd spray WD40 on suspect areas and see if it stops
Then tell Mazda at next service ;)

$40k in after tax dollars to get a new MX5. 2 months wage comes out as earning $240kpa in after tax dollars. That's going to be something in the order of $400kpa in wage.
Confirmed that Dan is a 1%er.
When I test-drove an ND with 1000km it had more rattles than an NC with 50,000km. I think all that weight saving has meant stuff is less well bolted together and less well noise insulated than the heavier car.

Re: ND Interior Squeaks and Rattles are annoying
Sorry your new car is rattling. Some of the responses seem a bit harsh- for all we know you saved up for 10 years, sold a kidney and then still had to do some unsavoury things to buy the car! 30K isnt cheap. Lucky you didn't buy a french car- I've had 6 Renaultsports ( 4 Clios, 2 Meganes), and the only new one rattled like crazy. I was really disappointed as I'd never had a new car before. that's why i'd buy secondhand- lower expectations! At least no one has given the advice I got:" turn up the stereo".
I wouldnt be too keen on getting the rattles chased- some Clio owners had things like the dash removed trying to find the culprit-only to cause more problems.
I just bought a 12 yo SE and I cured most of the noises by adding some Delrin door bushes. They are available for the ND I believe.
Good luck, I'd be pi$$ed off too if I bought a car from a manufacturer that has a good reputation and it sounded like a Lada.

Im obviously exaggerating Im just saying that its a cheap sportscar, nothing you can do will change the rattles and other character traits its bound to have.
Embrace them.

Re: ND Interior Squeaks and Rattles are annoying
To post a follow up - I reached out to Mazda who surprisingly gave me a call to discuss about it a bit more and said they'll get the dealer on it again. For now I've found a solution - I pulled out the rubber seal around the door panels and put it back with double sided sticky table. And I haven't heard noises since... well till the tape fell off. Least I know the source of the noises.
As for the responses on the lines of "get used to it" or "nothing will make a difference", well if it's your car and you don't care about the noises, then fine. But this is the first time I've bought a brand new car, and while it might seem minor to some people, I usually expect to not have to worry about "minor" issues when spending, what is to me, a considerable amount of money.
