It's a brown Davis NB glass window version
If it has any id on it it will be a tiny stamped plate near the main hoop base.
They're a good bar, and are available with cams cetification from Brown Davis.
Not ADR approved however (I don't think any bars are, since they're sold more for track use where ADR doesn't matter)

Thanks mate, yes, it is a Brown Davis. Found the little stamp plate that you mentioned.
Now that I know what it is, I will proceed to get it painted and install later on. It looks like the back of the bar might interfere with the soft top when the top is down (NA soft top with plastic window).
If so, I might have to remove the soft top completely (i dont use it, so that`s ok). The rubber rain rail at the back would come off with the soft top wouldn’t it? If so, is it still water tight with only the hard top on? OR, is there a separate rain rail I could get for the hard top? I haven’t checked anything properly, just asking if anyone is running the hard top only.

Hardtop only is no issue, the rain rail can be removed if you use the hardtop.
Just make sure you have all 6 latches and clips adjusted properly on the hardtop to make sure it doesn't wiggle and let in water in heavy rain.
The roll bar will fit with the softtop in place, the vinyl just tucks around he rear stays.
The window works as normal (the model you have is designed to fit the NB glass window, so the plastic NA one will be no problem)

Thanks for the info hks_kansei.
On other news, went for a drive through WA countryside today. A 150km spirited drive and the car ran beautifully. Brakes are fine, engine revs freely, transmission shifts great. The clutch might be on it`s way out though, its probably slipping a bit when hot. Definitely needs an alignment and some suspension bushes renewed.
Still getting used to the rattles and shakes on uneven road though.
Please excuse my photography talent (or lack of it) and the phone camera quality, but some pics below:

Yeah, WA is mostly vast flat land, so the hillside is pretty much the only option for some twisty roads closer to Perth.
"Mundaring weir road", "Zig Zag Scenic Drive - Gooseberry Hill", "Aldersyde Road - Bickley", "Canning Mills Road - Roleystone", to name a few...

Just a quick (minor) update.
Decided to restore the JDM fog lights.
Cleaned rust and primed the brackets:
The brackets were then coated with black anti-corrosive epoxy enamel. Cleaned light assembly and put everything back together:
Also installed an engine under-tray, which was missing from the car when i bought it. A big thanks to the good bloke who offered it for free on a local MX5 FB group.

Cleaned MAF sensor and Air Intake today (155,137 kms on the clock).
I know.. I know… minor details.. But I’m glad it got done because the inlet manifold was full of oily residue.
Perhaps it’s all in my head, but I though throttle response got a bit better afterwards.

First, because it was little easier to find in better condition in my efforts (I got a 42 xxx klms one), I liked the little advancements that mazda had made to the driveline, the slight tuning to the engine, the 6 speed box, I found it more aesthetically pleasing with the slightly sharper headlights, the fog lights and the larger wheels (although I will most likely be buying lightweight 15s). Just the little things and like you said, the later years of a model are better because mazda have worked with them and ironed it out.

Ah yes, the 6 speed box and the front bumper design (together with projector headlights) are definitely plus points in the NB8B.

Hello All,
So the car sat in the garage for a couple of months, getting used once a week or so. It is sad that the most easily accessible track got closed down in WA (RAC - DTC), so I haven’t got any track time in the little MX5 yet. Just two tracks left in WA now, Collie, which is 200kms away from where I am, and Barbagallo, which is 70kms away. Plus they both need CAMS licenses and club affiliation and all that jazz, so absolutely gutted that there is no track to just turn up and drive.! Feel like getting an E30 coupe for on-road practicality (to use as a project + second car so that both the Mrs and little daughter can ride), but the roadster is a brilliant little thing.!
Anyway, enough ranting, picked up some brake rotors and pads and installed them. These are not new, used for a couple of thousand kms as per the seller. I just wanted to try slotted rotors and some decent pads first, so bought second-hand.
These are DBA T2 rotors. Got some approximate weights for comparison, but I don’t know whether the old rotors were OEM or not (the rears were probably original, as they were quite worn out).
• Front, DBA T2 – 4.6kg : OLD – 4.4kg
• Rear, DBA T2 – 2.9kg : OLD – 2.5kg
The pads are Intima SR series, made in Australia and good for up to 700 Degrees Celsius as per the manufacturer. No squealing so far, have to drive a bit more to see about dust levels.
