A couple of guys on the big forum have had multiple gearbox replacements,usually ,but not exclusively,with some motorsport involvement and Mazda seems to recognise the issue and are replacing them.If they have identified that it is a particular issue ( as Nevyn72 has rightly said)then given the degree of traceability that is built into auto parts it is a wonder they have not identified the affected boxes and replaced them rather than have people driving around waiting for a time bomb to go off.
I ahve not heard of any failures here but was just making the general comment that if there are weaknesses the huge increae in torque with the turbo would be a concern.
