2009 NC Suspension input sought...

Postby cruro02 » Wed Jun 22, 2016 10:57 am

Hi - I just recently joined the MX5 club having bought a Dec 2009 PRHT with 120,000Km on the clock. I am considering upgrading the suspension and am looking at MCA X-C series units as it's my daily drive and probably won't see a track. Looking for feedback as to whether its something i should do - i.e. will I see/feel a difference in comfort and handling, is MCA the right choice, etc.. I realise these are somewhat subjective questions, but any input would be appreciated..

I run MCA Reds on my car which is mainly used on the track, I am very impressed with them and they are comfortable for a car that has track focussed valving. I haven't been in an MX5 with blues but have been in an Evo with them and felt that they were pretty plush.

If I was you I would probably just get MCA blues over the XC if your car isn't seeing the track and pocket the $500 or whatever the difference is, I don't think you need the fancy valving but saying that I don't think it's a mistake to get the X-C's if the money doesn't bother you.

Thanks for the feedback guys - I think I'll go with the X-C's over the Blue's as the price diff is not really an issue. I'll order them and then find someone to fit and setup for me.

What's your budget?

If u have around $2500 to spend go for ohlins. They are the best you can buy. Trust me. Especially for mostly road driving.

Thanks for the input - didn't really want to go much north of $2K if I could help it, but I'll check out the Ohlins anyway..

Anyone with Ohlins will vouch for their quality and superior ride quality.
They really are worth the extra cost

OK - so bonus came in from work and I'm going to pull the trigger on new suspension (still deciding between Ohlins and MCA) - anyway - can anyone recommend someone in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne to do the install - I have neither the tools, or mechanical aptitude to do it myself :) . Somewhere that might be able to install the new Autexe steering wheel I just bought as well - (the modding bug has struck - so far 7" touch screen head unit, short ariel, MX5 aluminium door sills, and hydraulic bonnet lifts)

I can highly recommend Nathan at Advantage Suspension in Moorabin.

Had work done there on various Commodores, Toyota 86 and RAV4. The man knows his stuff.

I've got the MCA X-Rs and can recommend them highly.
I have a set of Tein Flex for sale if anyone wants them. Only $400. :D
