Great write up!

Well done with the fuel gauge problem. Never fun having to remove and refit roll bars!

Thanks!

Getting very close now to big road trip number 2. Just waiting now for my old car parts from the build to arrive home plus some new upgrade parts to my camera gear. Not using the Gopro this run and I've had better results with the cheaper Git2 action camera. Plus the stability in the Git2 gyro side is rock solid so that will be good for in car footage especially when you high speed bounce over all those friggin cattle grids.

I will still be using my trusty Lumix FZ1000 digital camera. I had a good run with it last year so I see no reason to toss it aside. Besides its still the current model and if a newer one was out there -I'd probably bought it. They improve greatly model my model. I started with the FZ150 then the FZ200 and now the FZ1000
I also plan to ditch the Manfrotto tripod too and go for a SLIK by brand name monopod instead. Not only was that Manfrotto unit a big bulky heavy thing to tote around so the new lightweight unit will save on excess weight whilst on the move and a bit of valuable boot space.

The boot bag which I attached to the rear of the car is not going along for the ride either. Although on the last run it came in handy and I'd rate it 10/10 it was effected by wind drag a fair bit. More so at higher readings  Some of the other crap  I took along too wasn't really required and seeing I now know a bit of the area I have a much better idea what goes and what should stay behind.

Car appears well behaved since the upgrades and starts first kick so that's a good sign. although unlike some I have not really tested it's potential but I will eventually. Not sure yet if like last year I will require a new beaded style taxi seat cover to do the run. I actually found that beaded cover pretty good to sit in last year and thought it was $20 well spent. Best I look into that one too

I will be running with a passenger - the wife- so taxi bead seat or not unfortunately I won't be stopping to pick up any fares!

I think sometime next week I will make the move and take it north and will see how it handles a good 8000 klm road trip

What's the polished canister behind the intake? I thought it was a catch can, but on second look on my faded screen of my old laptop, the piping looks like the stock can is being used.

Question for Dann .... if I recall, there was mention that the tune on this allowed for BB's trip to NT where access to quality fuels would be an issue. Had this been a normal tune, any idea how much higher the final figure would have been?

not the best weather... raining from orange all the way to Nyngan. water on either side of the road and in several places between Narromine and dubbo running across the road too.
compared to last years run the countryside was pretty green and providing you stayed on the blacktop surface you were fine but the table drain were pretty well full with water. we also saw several big herds of goats and two lots in particular ran about 100 head per herd.
one lot near cobar and the other lot on the outskirts of broken hill. both lots grazing away within 100 metres of the main road.
