HELP NEEDED - Old Car Guru - Melbourne (to check out possible project car)

Postby zossy1 » Tue Jul 12, 2016 1:28 pm

Hi all,

I have my eye on an old Mustang for sale in SW Melbourne.

It needs some work...

I'm hoping there might be a kind hearted somebody out there, who knows what to look for (especially in terms of rust), and who might be able to go and inspect this thing before I bite the bullet and fly (or drive) down?

If you can help, please send a PM - I'd be grateful :)

Cheers!

If its a project car its only possible to assess if its done from the point of view of a restorer. Unless the car is registered and running then its near impossible to get it checked out. You could get a mobile mechanic or perhaps some other organisation that will inspect and give you are report. If you are not an expert in doing these projects then picking a Mustang means pretty big dollars because for some reason people want these pretty ordinary cars. There are plenty of Mustangs about and buying closer to home has benefits.

:BROADY:

I honestly did not know any of that, Morlock. Thank you so much for your kind and insightful comments. I will now go away and consider what you have said very carefully.

OK, now that I have decided that I know what I'm doing, can anyone help? Case of beer, or nice bottle of single malt, in it for someone with the time and inclination, a modicum of knowledge, and some skill with a camera phone...
