Buggar. The water pump leak often comes from having an engine sitting idle for a long time. It could have been OK when it was last running.

Did the timing belt and waterpump over the weekend, it's running well, no leaks, so far.
Bled the clutch last night, what a *&%@# that was!
Everything seems to be working as it should, except reverse, it shifts in and out of every gear easily, except reverse. Goes in easily, but is really hard to get out, you really have to shove hard on the stick to get it out.
Is this a transmission issue or a shifter issue.
This is not the original GB from the car, it came with the low km motor. the shifter that was in was pretty rough, all the bushes were stuffed, so we put our shifter into it.
Any ideas?
Cheers

The gearbox oil could have got old and tacky while it was just sitting around. Have you changed it?

Also, did you remember to put oil in the top turret?

If the issue persists after trying manga_blue's suggestions, then following might be of interest:

Seems to not be uncommon on the US Miata forum:

Thanks,
it's not the stuck in reverse problem posted there. We did drain the turret and put fresh oil in there, fresh oil in the box too.
It's just really hard to get out of reverse, all other gears are fine.
I think i have it though - we swapped over the reverse light switch as the one on the newer box had exposed wires, it's possible we forgot the washer or the two boxes had different washers on them, seems common on miata.net.
I'll get under there and have a look - well put it back on the hoist anyway 8)

Main thing is the motor is running and running well, she doesn't like it when i drive her car, thinks i drive it too hard :D

Fixed, it was missing the washer on the reverse light switch, shifts great, just like an MX5 should :D
