These were taken just after 10am.
A bit more than a light morning mist.
Once it started to lift it was gone in minutes.
Beautiful day in the end.
Plenty of fun to be had, as usual

Re: MX5CQ Morgan Park Trackday 9/7/16
Big thanks to Adam at the MX5 Car Club QLD for organising the day!
Best for Layout E.
Congrats to Slug_Dub for the 1:35 on the big track! Best I could manage was a 1:36.35. Made the same mistakes on the big track in the morning as previous, braking too early and accelerating into corners. However by the last session of the day on Layout E got the 'feeling' back and posted a good time.
You let a fast car past and what do they do?

This is the best lap I should have posted, not the whole session. Don't forget there is a SDT day at Morgan Park on 10/08/16... My previous best on this layout was 1:18.213.

Re: MX5CQ Morgan Park Trackday 9/7/16
Thanks to Adam and the organisers, who did well to overcome the fog induced delay to give us 3 runs on the long circuit and 3 on the short. Thanks also to Magpie who took my knackered Federals down to Warwick for me for what will probably be their last outing.
After a fairly cold run down from Brisbane (roof down, with my beanie, four layers of clothing and the heater on full I was on the cool side of comfortable) that included a borderline terrifying fog bound section from Cunningham's Gap to Warwick) I was around the back of Group 1, marginally faster than Adidistyle on the longer circuit, but comfortably slower around the shorter circuit. I found a couple of seconds around both configurations compared to last time, so it's hard to say how much was due to tyre and how much to me learning the layout. It was quite slippy in the opening session once the fog lifted - I nearly dropped it on the parade lap on the left hander on to the back straight, asking a bit much of the rear wheels by tromping it in third.
Still, had a fun day as my confidence improved and I think I learned a lot about using the full width of the circuit and not being afraid to back my ability to control the car mid corner. I did a couple of dumb things, and saw a few as well. Morgan Park is very different to Lakeside and QR with a lot of off-camber corners and late apexes, so I'm still getting to grips with getting the car slowed and figuring out how to get the car turned without understeer or getting the rear to come around. It feels great when you brake nice and early, but that isn't the fast way.

Hey! That grass at the end of the straight needed cutting. I couldn't resist.

I had your running over the vicious ripple strip on the outside of turn 2 in the second session after I gave specific advice not to do that after my experience in the first session in mind, but yeah, that too. Actually, that straight on at turn 1 was a pretty sensible get out after the lock up.
Also discovered I can do the whole short circuit in 3rd. I just run out of revs into turn 4.

Cracker day out. Couldn't find the same pace as March and I don't think dad did either, but the semis we were on have seen better days. Thanks to the Porsche Club and Adam for organising. We will endeavour to be there whenever a day at Morgan Park is organised.

Great photos everyone, particularly Cal's they are stunning! I don't like the 2 hour drive that early in the morning from Brisbane but I do like that section from QR to Aratula at that time of day for spectacular scenery as the sun comes up.
We drove down from Toowoomba, it was thick fog the whole way.
It turned into a really good day after the fog lifted, and I was very happy with my improvement, 4ish seconds improved on K, a bit over 2 seconds improved on E, but I didn't hit the corners as well on that one.
It looks like everyone improved on the last time which is great! Such a nice array of other cars to ogle at too. Thanks to Adam and everyone who helped organise.

Looks like I missed a fun day. Might make it to the next one, picking this up tomorrow so won't have to tolerate Cunningham's Gap on the semis.

Looks good Trackphotos. 2 attendees dropped their track tyres around to my place and I took them out.

Except for the state of the road through there! I was in the middle of overtaking a 4WD with a trailer and hit one dip that nearly whipped the wheel out of my hands. I'd actually softened the coilovers off a couple of notches compared to my normal settings to account for that section.
It was damn cold with the roof down (and as Adam said, no-one forced me to do it) but there is something really special about having the roof down with that approaching light pre-dawn.

Re: MX5CQ Morgan Park Trackday 9/7/16
Big thank you to Adam for organizing a Great day
it is a very challenging track and a great alternate to the QR LS options locally, I found out the hard way ! if you are a little wide on turn 2 or turn 6 (I Think) you know about it, it took the full 6 runs to really understand the first half of the track
hopefully the image link works, it was surreal morning with the slow burning fog and a very slippery first session
