949 wheels cracks

Postby The Dude » Sat Jul 09, 2016 9:09 pm

Hey guys,

Last weekend when I was washing my car I noticed 2 cracks on the right hand side rear wheel. Then today out of the blue I noticed another 2 more cracks on the front passenger side.

Has anyone experienced anything like this?

I am really confused as to what I am going to do now. I have purchased the wheels to dress up my car, and only purchased a replacement wheel for $480 (15x8) delivered to Wollongong. Now I am regretting this, because I'm worried this is going to happen to the remaining 2. 1 already has cracked and now I need to find another resolution for that one.

Any suggestions on what I should do? I am thinking of requesting a refund for the purchase order and stick with these interim wheels until i can afford a new set.

Cheers,
Craig

Did you get the wheels new or used, and how long ago?

yeah, its nothing new.

gen 1 and gen 2 wheels supposedly crack easily.

gen 3 and esp gen 4 are meant to be much stronger.

its not to say that your other 2 wheels will definitely crack. they may not. and i hope they dont.

what colour are your wheels?

Search is your friend. There are at least two other threads on this subject here, one very recent

the gen 2 wheels from around 2011-2012 batch are known to crack a lot.
