So this was the result and I think it worked out really well.

While modifying the inlet we discovered the piping was not quite up to scratch so Dann put pipe beads on all the intercooler and inlet piping. :D :D
This is one of those things that you should just do properly the first time or it will bite your arse at the worst possible moment.
He also remade and moved the BOV plumbing further down, polished the tubing and generally cleaned it all up.
Finally a huge alloy air box was designed and installed finishing off the whole engine bay nicely except for the front strut brace.

Thank you very much Dann. Its a pleasure to work with someone with this kind of knowledge and passion.

Can I please ask what oil filter you use in the above photos? They look larger than an OEM Mazda unit and almost twice as big as the K&N unit I have on the car right now.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

So started playing with one of my 4 bonnets (don't ask) and finally did the cut outs for the bonnet vents.
It took about 2 hours all up with a cordless drill and a jigsaw and then some hand finishing with a smooth file and a 12mm round file.
Hardest part was getting the template in the right place.
It will be painted gloss black to match the white hardtop that is getting painted gloss black. I wasn't happy with the colour match on the hard top, so will go back to black after originally swapping my black one with Danny. It seemed a good idea at the time. Wifey says it was another one of my Harris hair brain ideas. :( :(. Harsh….
At least It will match the vented bonnet.
Im not using the rivets supplied as it will look sh*t but I have some 3m Scotch-Weld 8805. Its a 2 pack adhesive that sets in 5 mins. I will glue it on and file the edge of the bonnet with a 45 chamfer. Should look nice but we will see.
I am also getting one of the other bonnets painted white as I accadently ruined my good white one

One day they will probably be for sale as a matching pair as well as the Garage Vary carbon fibre bonnet. One day.

I think that 4 MX5 bonnets trumps the 7 MX5 seats I had at one time (now down to 5).

Where does Magpie's "eleventy-three" sets of rims+tyres slot in to this scale?

Here the finished bonnet. Also got the hard top painted the same colour (gloss black)
B4.jpg

I wasn't going to hold the vents on with those stupid rivets so they are attached using 3M Next Generation Acrylic Adhesive DP8805NS. This stuff is just the best and the bonnet is as rigid as it was before I chopped out the bracing.

Good work!

Yes, the pop rivets would be horrible:

Interesting that Singular decided their Gurney flaps were no longer needed.
