25mm spacers

Hi all

Probably gonna attract some hate here but here goes. So I wanted 16x8 RPF1s for my NB but couldn't justify the $1300 plus price tag. So I've bought some NB2 16x6.5s for $200. Thinking about making up the width difference with some spacers. What do you guys think of these? They seem pretty legit, they are in 'SDYNEY' after all.

You want hubcentric with 54.1mm center bore.

I know a few guys who've used them for years and never had any issues.

They are illegal ....

Well so would the wheels be.
However if you want to split hairs. Wheels could potentially be engineered. The spacers would never be engineered.
So it wouldn't be the lesser of the 2 evils

The spacers definitely are illegal, and I'd be concerned about insurance using it as an excuse for an out in the case of a claim as well for that matter, but aren't 8" wheels ok if within max offset range, ie does not widen track by more than 25mm?

It depends on how you inperet the rules. It's supposed to be one inch wider than the widest wheels fitted by the manufacturer. That's either 6" for the nb1, or 7" if you include all nb models up to 2005.

Of course, but they would make them sit wider out overall & as such, closer to the edge of the guards. At the moment I feel like they're too recessed under the car.

If my calculations are correct ...

16 x 6.5 with 40 offset vs 16 x 8.0 with 35 offset = +24mm outer edge ... so yup

I've used +25 spacers like those on ET40 and ET35 15*6.5 and ET32 and ET35 15*7 wheels, both on the road and on the track. On the road they felt a bit strange at first. You're aware the front wheels are swinging on a wider arc but you quickly get used to it. On the track they made absolutely no difference to laptimes or risks, so I ditched them for that reason.

Mine are not hubcentric. I just rely on the studs and nuts to pull them to centre and that has always worked perfectly for me. There's has never been vibration, looseness or any other issue. The sky didn't fall, vultures didn't tear out my liver, ...

With 25mm spacers there may be a 1mm projection of the inner stud and nut onto the wheel mounting face. You may have to grind a bit off the stud and/or nut or else use wheels which have cutouts between the mounting stud holes.

Well, well well. I unintentionally opened a COW (can of worms)
I'm far from an expert. But I do know that spacers are only allowed in vehicles which were supplied with spacers from factory.

As far as the wheel goes. Forget interpretations. What's on your placecard. You may find on the NB8A has something like 15x6.5. That's what the copper & engineer will be looking at . The wheel size is 8" so therefore Also illegal .
My point was though that the wheel could pehaps be engineered much easier than the spacers.
