I checked the sprint results, if I kept the same low-63aec pace it would've put me about 12th of 42 cars. I suppose I'm not too disappointed to have matched my Pb even without the splitter, can't help but wonder what I could have done if it hadn't broken though. It's always fun chasing more powerful cars around there, brakes and corners are where all the fun is.

It was good watching you try to chase down Aaron Seton in his 86! Your matching PB without the splitter/ice cream scoop was a great run Ross, speed thru 'Hungry' was awesome! I had a great morning then left after practice

Went to Mt Cotton again. Improved PB by 1.3sec, down from 52.9 to 51.6. Changes are about 50kg less weight in the car, and a new alignment. Rang without the wing, and without the splitter (which I broke yesterday), neither of which would have helped anyway. As far as I can tell I came third in class, behind an Exige on twingrooves, and Brad's 2F NA8. Wasn't really planning on being competitive at all, did not expect such a significant improvement over my previous times.

Began building the new splitter. Monopan on the way this afternoon, in the meantime I've started doing the mounts. This time it will be two solid supports off the radiator frame, and 3 steel cables from just behind the reo bar, held in with m10 rivnuts, and adjustable length via turnbuckles. With the single cable I've made up so far, I can lift myself up by it and pull as hard as I can and I get no movement anywhere, so each of the cables/rivnuts is good for 72kg minimum. Should be very sturdy. Need to get some shorter bolts for the rad supports, and a few more swages since I've almost certainly not got the cable length right, having eyeballed them without the monopan in place. Expensive endeavour to buy all the hardware and tools, but I plan on making use of it all in the future one way or another.

And it's done. Haven't bothered protecting the leading edge since I only plan on using this splitter until I get a trailer and build a new one with a ridinculous airdam.

Quick load test video. Currently at 72Kg, so I'd guess it's an easy 100kg+ on two small contact patches. Should be more than capable of handling whatever downforce it can make at 175kmh.

New toy. Should be able to run tyres a little longer, and get to some different events now that I won't be driving on the semis, or be in too difficult a position if I bin the car.

For heaven's sake lose the turnbuckles - ugly!

Bottle jacks look much better, work the same way, are more aerodynamic and can be had in all convenient sizes and colours at your local Bunnings Racer Supplies ... as long as you like polished stainless 8)

Otherwise nice job! Weight? I'd be interested in comparing it to my ply one...

ETA: Just noticed that the hanger is attached to the radiator support(?), I attached mine to the chassis rails - I think you risk damaging the support in a splitter hit, that seems pretty lightweight to me, not much more than is need to hold the radiator up.

The front three cables are connected to 10mm bolts through the frame behind the reo bar. The rear two are bolts through aluminium arms attached to the radiator frame. I am able to stand on the front edge and jump without any creaks, rattles or bends. It'll be fine. The splitter with all the brackets on it and the rad support arms adds up to 9kg exactly. Add the bolts, cables and turnbuckles and it's probably 10.5kg altogether.
