I bought the valve.

Sandown was a good day. Very cool morning and damp track. They must have painted the ripple strips on T4 as I couldn't get any grip on the painted surface. So had to stay off them.
Had to leave early (1:30), had a 3 hr drive with 4 kids straight after the track day. So didn't get a chance to get "the perfect lap".
I won my class, and came 4th I think outright. Sally was there in her Porsche. Not many club guys can beat her. Anywho, I did a 1:21.9 on Racechrono and was happy to get my goal (1:21.xx), only to read on Natsoft I got a 1:22.02.
The wing worked perfectly, and I didnt really get to find the limits of grip (Needed a better driver). But really happy, top speed didn't drop either.
The car was hitting the boost cut for the first 3 laps or so, even tho I have gone back to the small exhaust. Must be the extra cool air. ?

I went over the data from Sandown and looked up old data to compare.
Top speed was unchanged with the wing at 203km/h. The WRX did 206.
T1 min was about 5km/h up at 106. It's amazing how close some of the corner speeds are with 4 different cars to look at for data. Most min speeds were right on 100km/h.
Top speed on the back straight was 201-203. Normally the back straight speeds are higher, but the car was spinning the inside wheel at T4, so may have cost me some speed.
T6 min was up at least 10km/h on average 159km/h.
Max speed down the hill was up 14km/h at 175km/h, and it felt very planted, so could go quicker there. (Can't wait to go to P.I, wing should be good there where you can really use it)

The sweeper at Winton will be the next test for the wing.

After looking over the data, I think if I had of stayed the whole day I could have done a low 1:21. Just a matter of building up the confidence with the grip. Pity I had to leave so early (1:30 p.m)

Great results Dave, given the top speed hasn't been effected much (more speed out of the corners?), are you going to add more angle to the spoiler?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

It's a wing ;)

I will play with it at Phillip Island when I have Beavis Motorsport to help. We will bring the GoPro and some wool.
At zero degrees it felt well balanced, so didn't change it. I might crank it up at Winton if I feel it needs it. Playing with the angles has to be done just to get a better understanding of what it can and can't do.

A dodgy video edit (videoed the laptop with my phone).

I missed the shift at the end. A bit of a shame, as it was a 1:22.1 even with that stuff up. If only I had time to stay the whole day and get a quick lap.

Went to Winton today to do the long and short tracks, only for them to let us know at the drivers briefing it will only be the short track. A lot of unimpressed drivers.
I went out and did a 1:04.1, but couldn't better it as the slow traffic on a one minute track made it impossible to get one lap without a car somewhere in the way. I gave up and went home at lunch.
Some cars did laps 15-20 seconds slower, so only took 3-4 laps to pass the same cars again.
The last session I did I just kept going flat out hoping to catch a break, but didn't get lucky.
Racechrono had low 1:03's in ea session.
Car was faultless, it did understeer, but couldn't be bothered fiddling with it as Phillip island is coming up next week, and it's more set up for there.

I went over the data from Winton compared to when I went a month ago. Only difference is the new wing over the broken wing. Minimum corner speeds are up about 3-4 km/h on average. The biggest difference is the max speed coming out of the sweeper before braking for the boobs. Up a whopping 7km/h. It felt quick too, the wing gives you the confidence to hold it flat knowing (hoping) it will stick. Another driver went straight into the concrete wall there before lunch. Must have tried holding it flat for too long.

That sounds very promising for T12(?) on to the main straight at Phillip Island (I am assuming you are grip-limited there). Should be able to pick up a bucket of time there.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Last corner at Phillip Island should be flat with the wing. T1 should be only a slight brake or maybe a lift. It's the understeer that will slow me down. If I could get it to steer, I would pick up a bunch of time. Maybe go back to oem front swaybar? I dialled down the front shock setting by 4 clicks in ea session. Didn't make any difference.

that's probably because the shocks in your car are ebay street cred coilovers. they are not made for performance.

I think only hard parkers buy Blitz coilovers. My car came with them, and I figured they are the same as lower end B.C's. I can't find any review of people that have tracked them.

You could use the coilovers in your carbon car, they will never get used bolted to that chassis. :P

Interesting stuff Dave - good speed down the hill - will be interested to see how mine goes once I get the new aero set up on it. 175 is seriously quick down the hill - that is GT car fast
