Took it to the closest mazda dealer near my house, and I've been informed that "it might be a problem with the CMU" - I couldn't quite get a good explanation as to what the CMU is, but from what I gather it's the electronic unit that runs the nav system? Now I have to wait for Mazda to authorize a replacement.

MZD units are usually very reliable. There's an update around for some of them. Might be worth asking if yours would be revived by applying it. Did you buy the car because you needed some of the MZD functions and are now finding life difficult with the unit not working? If so, send me a PM.

I find the seating position horrendous. Its way too high and the steering wheel is too far away.
I've pulled the seat out and did the 'disconnect the webbing under the butt of the seat' trick, but that didn't help.
But all my other mx5's are the same, and for those I just changed the seat and steering wheel.

Disgusting!

IMO an MX-5 is a sports car convertible and not a hardtop or gullwing - or does that roof come off?

Time to order a new Lada

Nothing I 'need' it for. It's just annoying that I have a new car, less than a few days old and I can't even turn on the radio. Let's hope they replace the unit (no reason why they shouldn't)

The CMU uses a linux based OS, very good chance they will try just give it a software reload and see if that fixes it first.

Apparently that's already been tried (I'd left it back with the dealer for half a day). Now just waiting on Mazda to authorize a CMU replacement.

You can download the Mazda toolbox software from the Mazda site and do your own updates, if you are tech savvy.

It's not rocket science, but to be careful, I bought a spare SD card and copied the files to it first and keep the original in a safe place, in case of a fault with the card.

It's an easy process and you can do it with a laptop or desktop. Otherwise, you will need to wait until Mazda perform the updates during services.

I had lots of problems with the MZD in both my ND's, the latest software update seems to have fixed everything. :D

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Does anyone have a copy of the owners manual?

I found a LHD version, but wanted the RHD version.

Cheers,
Alan
