Great day! Thanks Adam, Doug and all QR Staff for making this such a fun day
By no means fast in my NA, would have been happy to break 1:20 but 5 runs and after run 1 at 1:23 I finished run 5 with a 1:13.6
Sorry I missed you 'Project' not having met I had no idea who to look out for - I was #141 silver NA - first time out in that car after over 5 years of ownership

No need for apologies. I only made it as far south as Moronfield. Missus was too cold in the wind and vitoed Lakeside visit.

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY-LAKESIDE 6 JUNE 2016
Another great day. Thanks to Adam, Doug and the QR staff and volunteers. Congrats to Ross, 62.8 wit a na road registered car is sensational.
The cooler weather made the engine pumping but I could not get any temperature in the tyres. Could even touch the rims after a run. Still got a PB.
The relaxed and friendly atmosphere makes the MX5 club runs so special among sprint events. See everyone next time.

Yep, that was a GREAT day. Hey Adam, your idea grouping the boosted cars together worked really well, I had a ball playing with Geoff and Brian throughout the last 3 or 4 runs. Very even performance made for a lot of fun.

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY-LAKESIDE 6 JUNE 2016
Excellent day. Well run as always, lots of track time and only a few minor incidents. After looking at some data, it turns out the headwind down the straight was costing me 6-7kmh when compared to the same car, same configuration, in 10c warmer air last time I was at Lakeside. Interestingly, maximum speed approaching Hungry went up by 3-5kmh, so that same headwind must have been giving me a little push exiting Karussel.
Matthew Paul has put a gallery of photos up on Facebook, I've tagged everybody I can but privacy settings etc stop me from tagging a few. Take a look if you're interested:

This is the onboard from my best lap. Stoked to finally be in the 62s.
And also the Skyline spinning between Hungry and Eastern Loop, I had a decent view:

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY-LAKESIDE 6 JUNE 2016
Ah, we were wondering how he ended up pointing the wrong way. Great work today Ross.
Thanks to Adam, Doug and the Lakeside staff for another top day.
Between work and uni the track day sort of came out of the blue and I pretty much just put the track wheels on the Jaffa on Sunday, printed the forms and that was about the extent of my prep. Wasn't really feeling it heading out the first time and with tyre pressures too high and the coilovers on full hard I pulled the pin on the first session a lap early to come in and have a little think about things. Pretty much just ran the rest of the day to enjoy it, and was rewarded with some really good chases with the dark green NB (54), and in the last session with Keith's supercharged NA and another supercharged NB which put a smile on the face. Got to within 3 tenths of my PB which was fine considering I never felt super hooked up. Found it a little slippy with my apparent preference for trail braking which gave a couple of interesting moments into Hungry and one on turn-in at the Karussel.
Group 4 was very well behaved until literally the last corner of the last flying lap of the day where someone fell off at the final turn and there were cars going in all directions including the white Civic discovering what front drives do when braked heavily down hill with a little steering on. No damage for anyone so it was all in good fun. Good to see Rog running around in that silver NA too.
Interesting car of the day was the W20 MR2 which was suspiciously fast in a straight line for a naturally aspirated unit. Turned out it was running the 3.0 quad cam V6 from the Camry Touring/Lexus ES300 from the mid '90s.
Grant's probably still picking gravel out of his thing after his misadventure coming out of the Karussel, which Doug quoted as $1 a stone. Hopefully nothing too serious. EDIT - just saw Grant's off, wow that was actually quite violent once you got into the gravel pit. Ouch.

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY-LAKESIDE 6 JUNE 2016
I didn't drive, being new to the club and knowing very little. I did see some dedicated cars and enthusiastic drivers. Everyone was very welcoming and thx for that. It was very well organised and I learnt a lot.
Next time I'll have to have a fang too. In NB unmodified

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY-LAKESIDE 6 JUNE 2016
I wish I had been there but discovered a thing too late on Sunday to fix before Monday that ended up being yesterdays job
Grant thats a bit of an anxious video to watch... it was that outside bit of the top of Karrussel that undid me last year... very glad to see you didn't hit anything!
Lots of people achieving new personal bests yesterday, well done all (especially Ian!)

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY-LAKESIDE 6 JUNE 2016
That second apex at karussel is a killer for times. Push it another 3m further along and I reckon you'd gain a good 3-4 tenths by the time you hit hungry. Good to see the correct line through hungry too

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY-LAKESIDE 6 JUNE 2016
Out of the 25 or so flying laps, I think I took 20 different lines through karussel. Pretty sure I found a good line, and yes, the 2nd apex is the key and tricky to figure out as it tempts you to turn in way too early. I even managed to get the right-front wheel slightly into the turf on the inside just after the ripple strip upon experimentation of lines.
I can't do last corner properly simply because of lack of testicular fortitude, Eastern Loop is the one that frustrates me so much.

Re: MX-5 CLUB OF QLD TRACK DAY-LAKESIDE 6 JUNE 2016
Yeah I think I got karussel right 3 times all day, and those were the 3 62sec laps I did. Very hard to get it right, but when you do you can feel it on the run to hungry like you've got a few extra killerwasps. I hit it early in the final session, got bounced out toward the gutter and explodified the magpie that somebody else had clobbered and had landed on the edge of the track. Nice cloud of feathers in the rear view mirror for Stu to navigate through.
Last corner is the one to be most careful with. If there's one to be scared of, that's the one. Eastern loop for me is the only corner where the car understeers, so it takes willpower to hold off for just long enough to be able to power out without pushing toward that scary looking drop on the outside of the track.
