I think that gives a much clearer picture of the outright power of your car with camera facing out the front and onto the track

on sams video for obvious reasons you couldn't tell how quick it really is but this ones clears it up :wink:

Ive been planning to build an airbox for the pod since I bought the car, all the parts have been sitting there gathering dust but today was the day.

Made a cardboard mock up...

Used these mounting points...

The top folds over and screws hold it.

Looks like,

and..

Ill use some rubber edging for the top lip when it finally arrives. This was just a mock up but it works, I was planning to get the dimensions and then use a heavier gauge alloy, maybe I dont need too.

Test drive was a little underwhelming, its quieter

, more civilised and less of the turbo sucking air sounds... :frown:

, see if it stays or goes.

Ditto for test drive comments for me. At least it's no longer an exposed filter combined with a turbo, which is frowned on in Vic. And I have no objection to the turbo sounds being less obvious.

Do you reckon there'd be any advantage from finding the right kind of heat shield to go on the turbo side to maybe reduce air temps going to the filter?

Probably not that much to gain in real life, but in theory it all help keep the air cool and dense at bang time. So hard to do back to back testing for the average joe, the heat of the outside of the air box tells me its doing a far bit for the cause, and post intercooler temps were in the mid 20's today at the motorkhana, but it's no track day and it was raining and cold... little things all help I guess.

Wet day at SMSP skid pan but still fun racing your mates after the practice motorkhana...The car ran great, no dramas with temps, leaking coolant or anything actually, getting closer to sorted which is a great feeling. Plenty of practice time as the numbers dropped off during the day, I'm just getting a glimpse of what I don't know im doing getting from cone to cone, pretty fun and feels good when it links up.

The volunteer's who helped run the day are selfless souls, hopefully they are now dry and warm...

I'm definitely redoing it now!!!! Thanks for the inspiration, just have to figure out where to get there engine mount kit for the LS motor :lol:

Ill bring my housemate to the next one you do and do some runs with you guys, we actually intend to mostly use the carpark for various practice.

You -used- to be able to use the rally tracks if you shut your trap about it, which was farking sweet when I ran some rally cars.

Bonnet Vents Part 2...

I was undecided about the first vents... they worked but looked odd.

They looked like this...

So I cut them out with a dremel and an angle grinder. Measured up a new shape, took a little more care this time as this would have to work out, last chance.
Then using 5mm perforated stainless steel, sprayed black, filled the hole, sealed with special adhesive sealant.
