Wondai Sprints 11th and 12th June 2016
Wondai Sprints 11th and 12th June 2016
Wondai is a small town 244KM north west of Brisbane and is home to around 2000 people. South Burnett Motors in Motion has been working on putting together a street sprint event for some years and now it appears set to take place, following CAMS approval of the location, and surfacing works to the roads that will be used for the event, supported by the local government authority.
The event will be held on Kemp and Burrows Streets in the industrial estate:
The website for South Burnett Motors in Motion is [url=http://www.sbmotorsinmotion.com[/url]
It’s being run according to CAMS rules, so you’ll need a CAMS level 2s licence, affiliated club membership, CTP extension for QLD registered cars, helmet complying with AS1698, long-sleeve cotton clothing and closed shoes, 1kg fire extinguisher mounted securely, and 150mm blue triangle marking your car’s battery location (and anything else required by the supplementary regulations!).
Because it will be a ‘first’ it’s possible there will be some teething problems, but it is an opportunity to get behind a new regional sprint event.
I will keep a look out, and will post here again when more information becomes available (note that I’m not affiliated, but did meet one of the organisers who won his class in a blue Perana at Gatton this year).

Looks like it could be fun. Im in Toowoomba, so not too far away and should be able to make it. Maybe some others from T-bar would be keen

Seriously thinking of attending, just have to convince the other half that this is quality track time not quality fun time!
Not much accommodation at that time in the area

For your WTAC plans, this is probably more fun than useful practice, but still be great to see another mx5 there!

If my other half reads that post I'm stuffed I may have to sell it as a family weekend where we can relax and 'connect'. My other half makes an excellent pit crew whereas if I take one of my older children they are more interested in being elsewhere at these events.

Entries for this event close on 11 May. My entry is in, and at this stage the car hasn't even been off the trailer since Gatton - slightly too long between adventures?

In my head, I've bundled that with the QLD Time Attack series. That might be part of next year's motorsport plan.
Would this not also require 700kw and AWD + aviator sunnies?

Ouch
You have a boosted car so JapNats is your sort of event. I'm just in it to make up numbers
Polaroid Ray Burn aviator glasses complete with aviator leather jacket and scarf.

Re: Wondai Sprints 11th and 12th June 2016
Is there usually a good number of entrants in NA class?
I watched some clips of my old red '95 the other night. I do miss using all of the power there is, and knowing that you're trying to balance on the edge of grip to carry speed. I don't get that sense in the turbo

8 sleeps to go!
The entries are all up on the website, 92 in total. There are four cars in my class including me. The other three:
- BMW M3
- Mazda Rx7 (v8 powered)
- Skelta G Force
Ray Vandersee in his Skelta in Nov 15 was over 3 seconds quicker than my best run at The Noosa Hill. His will be the time to beat.
