PIARC dont own the track. Pretty sure Lindsay Fox still does.

Track days used to be $80 per day before he bought it. After he bought it they jumped straight up to $130, with no track changes or upgrades to justify it..

you are quite correct. if anyone has a minute this is a great read http://www.islandmagic.net.au/about-piarc/

Still, I do wonder if PIARC pay the same as other clubs or groups who hire the track. Or perhaps PIARC just run a better/leaner event. Perhaps others make profit? In the end I guess the bottom line is that those who run good events at a reasonable price will be supported.

PIARC also run 120 cars per event, whereas the AROCA one that beavis was talking about was only 84 cars. More cars = less $ per competitor to cover costs.

Well there you go. Perhaps that explains the difference, or at least most of the difference. Thank you.

I'm sure AROCA would accept 120+ entries if they received them.

Different strokes.

A lot of people who don't care about driving on the track probably think it's a waste of money.

In Melbourne you go to jail for simply driving past an elderly woman fast enough to cause her hair to waft in the wind.

For a PI event or for one of the 'smaller' tracks? I'm sure AROCA have accepted over 100+ entries for PI in the past

The last two rounds at PI run by AROCA have both been 82 actual entrants, which suggests the 84 limit wording is no coincidence (or typo)
The PI one before that in 2014 by AROCA was 95 actual entrants.

Our last WRX day at PI was 120 cars.

Went back through natsoft for the last few months and roughly summed the entries. Some of the PIARC events include VicV8s, but then they do eat up track time so i included them in the numbers.

Host / Entries
PIARC ~125
PIARC ~60
Porsche ~82
WRX ~118
AROCA ~84
PIARC ~135
Porsche ~60
AROCA ~82

That is a lot of cars. More cars mean a cheaper entry fee, but potentially larger groups and less runs. You don't get your value.

And having run with PIARC prior to AROCA (I used to be a PIARC member) you could pay double for AROCA events compared to PIARC and you'd still get better value.

Wasn't uncommon to get just 4 runs for the day (of 1 outlap, 3 flying ) so total of 12 fast laps for the whole day with PIARC.
AROCA is regularly 30+ laps

The prices dont seem that out of it.

When I used to hang around Winton a lot (6 years ago give or take) trackday entry fees were between $50ish for a Friday test and Tune (usually hundreds of cars, and minimal track time)

Then there were the Tampered Motorsport days of around $120 ish, which usually had around 100 to 150 cars

Then the good trackdays run by specific clubs, which were between $140 and $180, which were usually capped at 70 cars or so depending on club.

So overall the Winton prices at least seem to have held fairly steady.

I wouldn't be surprised if much of the cost increases are more to do with the insurances required than any other factor.

Track Day [afternoon] with MX-5 Club Queensland will cost me $145 entry fee - full day same price

PM session will average 6-8 runs, all day can be 10+

It was $125 until this year but of course track hire etc does add up and we had many years at $125

Lakeside is limited but to noise constraints to 4pm finish whilst QR is 5pm

Next is Lakeside Park next Monday 6 June

Biggest reason I stopped doing hillclimbs. ~$100 for 6 x ~50 second runs, or $150~$200 for a full day at Wakefield.

As someone said earlier though, the cost was absolutely in the consumables. Brakes, tyres, fluids, etc add up pretty quickly.
