This is the one I bought: "Universal Turbo INTERCOOLER 28x5.5x2.5"
Core size W=530mm x H=140mm x D=64mm
This one fitted in to my SE with no modifications required.

Yeah, I was lucky to get hold of this one off Crapweasel when he decided to sell Maniac. Always liked these. From Robert's Autosports (http://www.robertsautosports.com/grilles.htm) but don't think they make them like this anymore.

Excellent. I have been watching that very intercooler. I have it in my head that a tube and fin is better than a bar and plate, so that works well.

Yeah, I read a lot of arguments out there for and against both, then just went with what most seem to fit and pretty much on price and ease of fit as well - why I went for the lower height. There's evidence out there of the lower efficiency of these cheaper units compared to some of the expensive brand names, but for the sort of boost and power I'm producing (and will probably ever be likely to) I reckon it'll do the job just fine.

Not a problem to you SE guys (and this may not interest you as not relevant to a SE) but that would mean I'd need tighter bends again since my PS piping bends back to come up inside the engine bay, rather than a cutout like the SE.
Happy to find coolers so much cheaper these days and like others have said, it looks great Kev.

Call me vain, but it's mostly the looks. Plus the tube style is supposed to have better airflow through the core, meaning more airflow through the intercooler to your radiator. But it's mostly the looks

From what I've read, the stock intercooler is actually pretty good at what it does and can deal with a reasonable amount of boost
... it just looks ugly doing it.

In stock form, the OEM intercooler does its job.
Wind up the boost to 12-13psi and you'll get heatsoak on hot track days.
Even the common cheap eBay intercoolers perform significantly better and there are many MT.net members with 250+rwhp cars using them so you know they work.
Goodbye OEM intercooler, good riddance to the "bucktooth look":
I hope you tried cleaning up the inside of the plumbing, particularly on the coldside, the pipes are only iron and rust on the inside - you don't want flakes to enter the engine.

Yeah I was surprised how rusty the inside of the piping was! Wasn't expecting that. Cleaned as much as I could and flushed through and dried thoroughly before putting it all back together. Wasn't a great job and couldn't get in far but probably better than nothing.

First really decent detail in a long time ... give whole car a good wash, then clay bar a couple of areas, wash again, polish, wax ... clean and condition the vinyl roof ... vacuum and detail the interior ... clean & condition the leather seats, leather handbrake and gear lever gaiters ... vacuum the boot & clean surrounds ... detail the engine bay ...
