Thanks for the input Nev, the LC-2 has a decent length of sensor cable attached to it from I understand. The LC-1 has a ridiculously short cable , so If I want to put the bung on the cat (I do) I'm going to have to do what Lokiel did.

Had a bit of a moment on Wednesday morning. Red P-plater stopped at the lights next to me with his wheels at close to full lock. When we set off, he forgets to correct and starts heading towards me, I go to the horn...
NO HORN
Thankfully he corrected just in time, but this weekend the horn issue became number one priority.
Pulled the wheel off (takes about 45 seconds hooray for NA!) and found the problem was not what I expected:
The connection broke at the rear ring, not at the spade connectors like I assumed.
This is the ring that the broken end of the purple wire is supposed to connect to, over time the wire broke down:
You can see that it is insulated from the actual hub by MDF, and all the horn button does is complete the circuit from the wire going to the ring, to the hub itself.
How not to solder 101:
New connection ready to go:
A good inside project for a rainy day, and also very interesting to see how simple the horn mechanism is on the old cars.
Also took a couple of good pics (for me) of the car last week. The more I try to do this the more impressed I am by people like Apegrip and Billybunters photography skills.

Regards the horn ring, I had the same problem. I soldered it (difficult) and then put a blob of silicone over it (my universal glue).

Bruce, I tried to solder it without separating the rear ring (through the hub), that was very difficult and a big fail.
I've had enough soldering practice now that I'm pretty confident soldering to a flat surface. I remember when I wired one of my guitars I just flat out couldn't do that sort of thing.
Silicone is a good idea, as it would also insulate. I'm hoping mine holds, not having a horn is pretty scary when you need it.

Last weekend the turbo was clocked, but I can't get the brute of a circlip back in the compressor housing.

Sad morning. Tried to re-route the upper rad hose (Cadillac) to make way for the intercooler piping:
But there is zero room to shoot the intake straight down. I'm now investigating over-the-rad style set-ups.

Nice one mate, I feel your pain with the intake/coolant route dramas.
The turbo c-clip can be a pain, best to get some nice c-clip pliers and if you need a flat head to guide it into the spot. The other thing I have used before is just some silicon spray or similar if it is getting caught on the alloy.

Thanks greenb0x, I have a set of BIG knipex internal pliers coming from Germany. About $40 delivered which is more digestible than the $100 or so that the big stores wanted.
I'm going to cheat on the intake stuff, I'm getting some 'help'

Hahaha thanks speed, I wasn't going to miss the trick after rebooting the thread.
I was missing one screw from the kg works panel, but cost less bolts in Ringwood sorted me out yet again for a few cents.
