NA vs NC seats

Postby captaincabinets » Fri May 20, 2016 12:23 pm

Hi all

Thinking about replacing my NB seats. Would like to stay with cloth to avoid summer sweat back.

I am ~75kg and ~180cm. Find the stock height on the NB too high. Don't like the head rest either and don't think much of the side bolstering as have a slim build.

So I'd be going for NA with a foamectomy I guess? Disadvantage is that all the original cloth seats would be in okay-poor condition by now, whereas cloth NC seats would be much newer.

Am also interested in upgrading to heated seats in the future at some point, not sure if that makes much of a difference. Guess there aren't any cloth NC seats with heating anyway.

Thoughts?

Give then both a miss and get some ND seats, there is a set advertised in the Traders section here.Easily the most comfortable I have ever sat in in an MX,even better IMHO than the Recaro's optional in the NC.

I have always thought the NA seats were just, but can be made ok but had forgotten how ordinary NC ones are.My leather ones are very poor in lower back support a problem that i had in my 2007 and now have again in the NC2.

I was told NC seats won't fit in an NA.
I have seen them pretty cheap too.

I've dríven all day in our NC (faux leather seats) for several days in succession on interstate runs and never had a back issue - and I have a dodgy back. Not sure if they'd fit in an NA or NB though.

I'm 181cm ~73 kg and always found the NB8B/C seats comfortable. I had fabric SE seats in my NB8A with a foamectomy to the driver's seat and that was great for height while driving! However, as I have a bad back I found it difficult to get in and out of the car. I now have an SE with the leather seats and they are great for entry/exit but they do sit you higher. I don't find it an issue, but others of similar build might. I also found the ND seats to be very good, but not sure how much work to make them fit an NB. Always thought an NA base with NB8B/C backs would be a good seat but have never actually tried it ...

Thanks for the advice all. Yeah I've seen a few positive comments about the NB2 seats also.

I'm one of those. I didn't buy an NB8B new for that very reason and found an NA8 fitted just fine - and even better after a foamectomy.

They are in The Forum Sponsors section of the Classifieds, about 15 items down on page one, MX5 Parts have them.

Found em. Not gonna drop a grand on cloth seats though, think NCs are $3-400.

Thanks anyway.
