Hello,
I recently looked at a 2000 mx5 heritage edition with the cream interior. Anyone know where i can get a cream coloured or light beige vinyl paint? VHT doesn't appear to have anything. Contemplating just doing the door trims at first to see the result and further down the track get the seats trimmed in similar coloured leather. Many thanks

Where are you?
I got my dash colour matched to my red leather perfectly by eastern auto paints in vic.
They also do vinyl type paint.
Are you painting over the beige?

Re: cream vinyl dye
Hello,
Sorry i just read my post and didn't make myself clear. I've a black interior so would be making the black door trim cream/beige. Im in sydney but you've given me a good thought, theres a paint shop not far from me ill give them a call they should have it or may even mix vinyl dye. Thanks!

I think you'll need to paint it, I'm not sure you can dye black something as light as beige.
Better yet, beige interiors come up for sale sometimes. You could try contacting Boyracer, I remember him having one for sale a while ago. Worth a shot.

Re: cream vinyl dye
You'd probably have to paint it with a lighter colour and then apply the cream colour. Seems a lot of work/overkill.

Sound like EAP is worth a try but any other automotive paint supplier could provide some advice and they virtually all match to eye or to a specific paint number. EAP is in Bayswater Melb. Best application would be spray can. Also go and talk to a trimmer for some advice.

You'd need to speak to the paint shop about what the use, either that or a motor trimmer (maybe even a furniture upholsterer, since the colouration part would be veyr similar in method)
Whatever paint/dye used needs to remain flexible, and preferably soak into the vinyl so that it won't simply crack and peel off.
I've used the VHT dye on an old sun damaged dashboard panel with great results, but that was a solid piece, so no flexing.
Are you looking to do the entire door panel? or just the elbow panel on the NB?
The elbow panel I believe is able to be removed, and being small would not be too difficult to re-trim at home (vinyl, contact adhesive and some patience)
The full door panel however would be more difficult to trim, having quite a few curves to deal with.

Re: cream vinyl dye
I bought the cream interior from Boyracer. I had the drivers seat repainted/dyed by Leatherwise on the Central Coast. Give him a call - did a pretty good job on my seat.
