MGCCQ Interclub Hillclimb, Mt Cotton - Sat 14 May 2016
I'd been meaning to enter this since getting my CAMS L2S licence for the Porsche/Morgan Park day recently but had forgotten to put it on the calendar, in fact I was planning on going to Lakeside to spectate at the PSCRAQ race day..
I did the hillclimb "Come and Try Day" at the end of January but haven't done an officially timed run yet.
It looks like the deadline for entries is today. (04/05/16, May the Fourth be with you)
The MG Car Club always seemed to like to process entries by snail mail but there is now an online entry through CAMS.
Links here:
http://www.mgccq.org.au/entry.htm
https://www.meecamsau.com/
Looks like I've just signed up and paid ($85) but I haven't received any separate confirmation yet other than when the credit card payment went through.
When setting up the meecamsau account it kept telling me my CAMS licence # either didn't exist or had expired.
I'll follow up with CAMS and the MGCCQ tomorrow.
Anyone else keen to make further use of their L2S licence?
There's got to be better/faster ambassadors for the MX5 club/community than me
Other clubs (potentially) competing:
Lotus, MG, Holden, Porsche, (Nissan) Z Cars, BMW, 86's, Alfa Romeo, MR2, Triumph.
Personally, I'm hoping that this is a semi-quiet day where I can gain some hillclimb experience with smaller crowds than the Hillclimb Series rounds proper.
It is however listed as the last chance for track time prior to the Qld Hillclimb Championships on 4th/5th June.

Might have been keen, but I'm working might come take a gander before I start work if it's a full day event.

Timed runs to start at 9am (scrutineering from 7am). Not sure of a finish time yet (mid afternoon?). I'll let you know what I hear.

Saw that too just after I signed up. Expect you could have talked me into Willowbank over Lakeside at Dodgy Day.
See you Saturday.

Yes, forced induction is capacity multiplied by 1.7. Rotaries are capacity multiplied by 1.8. Multiplier to make the competition fairer.

Speaking of which, Jeff Graham has somehow ended up in the <2000cc group even though he's supercharged. They haven't listed his capacity as 1800SC.

Mmmmm. Hawk DTC-30 pads are AWESOME at stopping, and very cool that they spew fire, but I don't know how long they and the rotors will last
Great day, only 5 runs ( 4mins 20sec of track time) but very challenging Motorsport

Re: MGCCQ Interclub Hillclimb, Mt Cotton - Sat 14 May 2016
The full MX-5 contingent
Hillclimb
Brad/Berenice were just in front of me and Stuart a couple of cars behind so I didn't get to see any of their runs.
Got a couple of action shots of Jeff but nothing good enough to put up. (Sorry Jeff).
I had a great day.
52nd of 56 entrants - but had heaps of fun.
Runs: (from memory) 58.24, 57.37, 57.27 (recovered from being sideways out of Lovers Leap), 56.94 (dropped tyre pressures), 57.10
I managed to get two more unofficial/non-competition timed laps in before everyone packed up but will have to wait until results get posted online to find out how I went.
There's another 'Come and Try' day on 27 August for anyone keen. As can be seen from my times you don't have to be fast to compete (just compete against yourself ) and everyone was really friendly. http://www.mgccq.org.au/raceresults.htm
I'm hoping to be back on 25th/26th June.
