In the time it's taken to still not have my car completed I could have gone to college to learn the skills to do it properly myself, and then done all the work properly myself and had only one person to point the finger at if anything had gone wrong, but .......

I wouldn't have been earning any money for the last 5 years. Worse, I'd have been paying college fees.

I'd have had to rent a workshop for 5 years.

I'd have had to buy all sorts of tools.

Compared with the person presently working on the car I'd have also had to hone my skills by working mainly on other people's turbo MX-5s for the last several years.

Only after all that would I have felt able to do what will have been done to the car by the end of this week.

And even then, I'd have been worse off financially, would have learned less about consumer law and about how MX-5s work, and I'd still have made MANY stupid mistakes.

Im hearing you loud and clear dave, and know exactly where your comming from buddy. But like I said before when it finally Comes together right after the frustration and banging of head againt wall, when you find the right people with the know how who do the right thing by you and keeping the cost reasonable, it makes it all worth the effort.
I spanked the ass red raw of a 5.7 GTS this weekend, who's driver and passenger gave me the "lets f**k up the rice burner look and yogle laugh" and I'm still giggling my ass off!! After the dust settled and watching the slack jaw look on their faces, I can say only say being a former big block hoon myself, the attempted face saving fly by from that spanked v8 commodore vs an mx5 is one of the most pathetic sights in the animal kingdom!!

just what I hope to do tooo! :lol: nothing would be worse for a v8 driver than to be done by a mazda mx5 - plus it would give them something to think about next time they see one

How do you like the torque curve?

This is at 12psi. It's a built motor. The turbo should be efficient up to 19-20psi which would add another 50kw.

This is only a tiny part of what NitroDann has done to repair dodgy previous work, deal with years of abuse on the track and to update the car generally.

More pics and info to come when I've replaced my broken computer.

excellent curve Dave, cant wait to see the results when you get the computer sorted. for what its worth I cant speak more highly of the Haltech elite 1500 if your contemplating ECU swap- keep us posted!! (ps mine is handling 22psi with nil issues, depending of the efficiency I may even look to +24psi, the build I understand will be strong enough to handle it, it will just be a matter of time to see how the box and diff take it!

I would love to get mine tuned properly to see what a stock SE turbo can do on an NB8B motor. Your car will be quicker than mine now by the look of it.

I think its important to note 3 things.

We dont know who is responsible for each mistake on the car, some might need to get the benefit of the doubt.

This is wastegate pressure, this is far from a final power figure, wait a day or 2.

Despite the 350rwhp setup it now has we are ahead of saffies well upgraded OEM setup literally EVERYWHERE.

Ive got copies of daves old dyno sheets and again, this new setup is ahead, by about 50% absolutely everywhere on the sheet.

Correction. ONLY the car will be quicker. The driver has much to learn.

The lower "curve" is boost by the way, not torque. My bad.

Hey NitroDann. Just getting off topic momentarily from Daves balmy beastie.
Any words of wisdom RE the "problem child's" unwillingness to take the preferred timing we would like to put into it than what it actually wants to take? This is mainly on the PULP98 runs. (This is one of those dumb questions Ive been apprehensive to ask!!) :|
