No water is controversial still, all the while you can go out and buy oil-less turbos.

That's the one that split on Sunday! I'd delete it if I could but something about cooling the oil, oil cooling the turbo... Possibly could bypass the TB and run the water line from the cooler round to the mixer...

Or you could delete the whole pipe and use a proper oil cooler. :wink:

Really?.....I'm not saying you're wrong but that's a bit counter-intuitive.

Surely the oil and coolant are the same (cold) temp on startup, the heat exchanger at the oil filter relies on coolant to regulate the oil temperature.
Does the coolant in the engine warm up that much more quickly than the oil from a cold start that it could make a difference?

I'm actually genuinely curious if this is the case......

It most certainly does.
Put some sensors on your coolant and oil, and you'll see the coolant only takes a few minutes to get up to temp whereas the oil can take more than 10 minutes to get up to temp..

That front bar is very nice. Looks factory. Makes your car look like a Boxster.

from past experience I think a boxster would out handle a mx5 although I only had mine for a short period but it certainly could straighten up the bends in a road. but for value for money and low repair costs the mx5 is miles ahead in all directions

Update on the Nexus 7 dash. Due to Bluetooth connection being unreliable I have gone back to serial to usb into the nexus hub, and am now running Msdroid because it supports usb... Its actually pretty cool. There is a glitch where if you press the "tuning" tab its throws the injector tune out and the car wont start...the solution is just dont press that tab... Otherwise is is proving 80% reliable.

Went out to Dann's workshop on friday for the afternoon, and the evening (Sorry Dann).

On the list was to install the reroute and change all my coolant lines.

This is the mx5+ unit, im running my tridon highflow thermostat 89*

I bought a spare bonnet from Lachlan, its a bit beaten with some bog but it should turn out just fine after some paint.

From the data on flyin miata and the like and the shape of the bonnet with the vents that I bought from SSV online, I made up a little jig and marked it onto the bonnet. I used a 4" cutting wheel on the angle grinder for 95% with tin snips, files for the rest. I made a bad cut once...the rest I was good and all finger and eyballs are fine.

The vents had some adhesive tape which once heated up placed them on.

Then used some epoxy from the inside to fix it to the bonnet.

I know it should have taken longer, or I should have been more careful or cautious but I think it took 90 mins from start to finish.. which included a quick skate with the kids on the street while the epoxy set... I will do a bit of the paint prep and then off to the panel shop for a layer of silver...or just run it as is! 8)

Bonnet is back from the spray booth, the bonnet itself need a fair bit of filler and panel beating to be ready for paint...

Practice day at Ringwood this morning, got into a rhythm and kept dropping tyre pressures down till about 33 hot, was getting better and better. I need to raise the rev limiter for a few sections but the car was brilliant. Here's a lap.
