Re: Dave's SE
I agree the flex fuel sensor allows to swap between fuels however as for bear2230 it is difficult to not want to make some angry noise when on E85. Plus the fuel smells so sweet Once you go E85 there is no going back
Mind you at the moment the fuel consumption on E85 is quite good using the car as a daily, however its commute is at highway speeds and no stop/start peak hour traffic. The first 10 mins on the drive is not above 3,000 rpm to get the oil up to temp. The last 10 mins are at 100 kmh and about 1km of 60 kmh to finish it off.

Re: Dave's SE
Bet you thought things were going ok having heard nothing for 7 months, eh?
So how about this for an explanation of why I might have been missing a gear change or two?

Re: Dave's SE
Probably worth using bolts to hold the engine in in case of a rollover.

looks like someone inadvertantly adopted one of the lightyear methods for achieving lightness

Yup, fully Wilkened, that. The one bolt that was there was even undersized for added lightness.

Re: Dave's SE
I was going to mention the weight saving. But this may be going a little too extreme.

Re: Dave's SE
Dave's thread lights up, and I dive in expectimg updates of new and lofty power outputs, and grins all round... And a missing bolt or two.
How do you find those mounts (when they are actually mounted)?
I've got new standard mounts in mine, but the gear stick still moves around much more than I'd like

Re: Dave's SE
When first correctly installed they went into a car that was then quite a refined road car which hardly saw the track. There was a noticeable but acceptable (to me) increase in NVH, and an improvement in my ability to change gears.

Re: Dave's SE
When I said "put the engine back in" I should maybe have said "put the engine back in properly"?

Re: Dave's SE
Methinks some of this will have been caused by the engine dismount:

Re: Dave's SE
I have actually started to wonder if you make this stuff up, surely nobody would hand a car back like that.
Did I miss who put the engine back 'in'?

Re: Dave's SE
In a perfect world we'd source all our own parts and have the skills to install them ourselves.
Where that isn't possible we maybe need to go so far as seeing the parts and the invoice for them, and watching them being installed?
By the way Dann, I can also see why having 8 of the darned things would better!
