So i bought a nb8b just over a month ago now its been real fun driving so far, till i found out the clutch was going and then also found out the gearbox was going, so these things now need to be replaced and I'm up for a couple thousand, thats when i thought, hey why not fix it up nice, i see so many people on here that are getting really good results with their mx5's and i don't want to sell it cause its such a good drive
so here is what is in progress so far

I've bought
exedey sports tuff heavy duty clutch
fidanza lightweight flywheel 9pounds or just a touch over 4kg (I hadn't heard much about these flywheels here but they seem to get really good reviews through the american sites)
some tokico adjustable shocks and lowered springs to go with it (this was a spontaneous eBay purchase, i don't know much about these at all, though at $400 i felt they were a good buy, considering flying' miata were selling the shocks alone for $570 USD)
3.9 torsen diff (which i want to change to a 4.1, though the 3.9 will do if no one buys it) heres a link if your interested

as for interior of the car when i first got it ,it had all that ugly wood trim stuck to it, that was the very first thing, get rid of that, i have to say it was a bit of a mission, i ended up getting a syringe from a chemist, filling it with metho (i know this sounds odd) then lifting the adhesive side as much as i could, which was only a touch because they were really stuck down, then injecting that bit with the metho, it worked beautifully on everything besides the part of the door where the tweeters go, so i just bought them bits on there own and switched them out,
i also changed the head deck, speakers and installed an amp, (I'm a musician in my spare time so i needed a crystal clear sound)

exterior, well don't plan on doing to much here, only a couple little scratches that need to be fixed, and i just bought some cheap second hand wheels that are good enough for now, my main goal is engine at this point

so thats so far, nothing mechanically is fitted yet, some of the parts I'm still waiting for to arrive, and once they do I'm just going to wait and install all of that in one big hit, all thats left for me now is to buy the gearbox, which should be in a week, once I've got that, it will all get installed, and eventually ill be looking at a turbo (probably not long after the gearbox gets done is when ill start buying the rest of the stuff for the turbo, as I've already found a manifold and downpipe which ill be picking up next week)

sounds like you are off to a good start.

Id get a second opinion about the gearbox, they are pretty bulletproof with standard power..

Im running a Fidanza in my NC, its a little lighter then the NB one at 3.5kg, its awesome, engine spins up soo quick now :D you'll love it

It's good to hear that I'm going in the right direction
and that fidanza flywheel, so far I haven't heard 1 bad thing about it
As for the gearbox I have had a second opinion from a mechanic that owns a mx5, he also thinks it's on its on its way out, so I'll just be replacing, that's the easiest option

So i put the new shocks on, they have 5 settings on them, i left them at 4, its a little bumpier then the standard ones, but i don't mind, it defiantly sits better then before

and here is the picture of the interior, looks a lot better without them old worn out wood features that were stuck on it before

next up is the diff, doesn't look like anyone wants it, so ill be putting that in tomorrow, also bought an adaptronic pnp ecu for, just waiting for the wideband and injectors before i install it

A 3.9 will be fine. Especially for a road car.
Why the larger injectors?

Yeah Im pretty happy installing the 3.9, so ive got the ecu already, and want to get that tuned for my car, because it will be getting turboed down the track, I was told to put the injectors in now otherwise I'll have to do a full tune now without the injectors, then once it gets turboed will have to put the injectors in and do another full tune

So I started getting a bit to far ahead of myself once I bought the adaptronic ecu, I was going to get tuned and I hadn't even bought the gearbox yet, and replaced the clutch and flywheel that I have sitting in my room
So I cancelled my tune I have for tomorrow, taking it to the mechanic to get a few little things done, I've bought the gearbox, and am getting that installed in two weeks, and then next week is the wheel alignment after installing them shocks it really needs one
Though this is definitely picture noteworthy, I've been wanting these since I bought my mx5 though couldn't justify paying $300 for them, till I found them second hand on here for a great price

Cars gone to mx5 mania today, clutch, flywheel, gearbox, adaptronic ecu, and a wideband are all getting installed then tuned, can't wait to get it back
I've got a garrett t25 on its way, though that will be on the sideline for a bit, next step is brakes, I'm looking at hawk hp plus pads and some standard rotors, anyone got any suggestions on what they think would be sufficient
