Maybe there should be CAMS officials under 85 years old. And make sensible decisions based on current thoughts.

OK...

So on the plus side, the track is awesome. We ran a 1:34.13 on A050s which, judging from the times of others, was pretty good. My car definitely has a 1:33.xx in it, but we ran out of time today and had to leave before lunchtime due to the various needs of my two little uns who had a long, long car trip ahead of them.

As it turns out, another guy turned up entered in my class today... In an MGB. I was 16 seconds a lap quicker though so I'm not really sure that counts...

I was happy as a litmus test that I got within 1.3 seconds of Lightyear, who has done a fair few laps around the track, and was on the same rubber with more aero and evidently a bit more power too :)

Another plus was the MSCA. They ran the event like clockwork. The only small suggestion for improvement would be to rank the run groups and send them out in order of their best time for the event to date... It would save the jockeying for position on the dummy grid before each run and the annoying need to them either pass people early in the session, or bin laps to establish enough gaps to run a quick lap.

My aero was compromised to say the least, having the wing snap on the first lap. And I haven't been on the new surface or with the car in this set up. But your time is still very good. There are a lot of people who would be happy to be doing under a 1:35. Those supercharged V8 commodore guys I talked too spent a lot of money ($50k and more) and are trying to crack 40's.

Funny when you consider spending less than $15k on an MX5 and some mods will get you sub 40's

Oops... It looked good on the car at the start of the day!

That front splitter looked nice - what material did you use? Is that just Alucobond? It looked stiffer than that...

Yep, its core fluted alcubond. Cheap and it works.

This was my best lap for the weekend... Sorry about the lack of data, my data logger seems to be on the blink.

...and here is why I perhaps didn't get into the 1:33.xx bracket. One of my final big push laps, no mistakes... Except for accidentally flicking off the master power switch when pulling 4th on the exit to the start finish line! Still managed a 1:34.50, even with this howler...

We push it fairly hard... This engine has a year of racing on it now, and apart from swallowing a bolt at last year's nationals (requiring a new valve and resetting valve lash), it is as-built. The old man builds them strong!

My motor was built by Mazda 15 years and 212,000 km's ago. Seems to be doing ok still. I did see 7400 rpm at one stage, and freaked. I don't like taking it over 7000rpm.

If the Beavis is up to it, we can upload a video with data to compare. Yours looks a little more behaved.
