Nice man, love the USB in the glovebox.
I just finished mine, nearly same as yours. Made the same hole in the side of centre console but I did other side for some reason

Glare can be bad, if I'm wearing sunnies with top down I can't see the volume buttons on the screen

Hi Ian,
Nice write up on your project. Noticed you installed the bride seats. Did you find they dropped you lower than the stock seats with a foamectomy? If so which Bride model did you get?
Thanks,
Richard

The glare is ok until I use sunglasses which are polarised, and then I cannot see anything!
Looks like I need drivers glasses haha!

Good one, I tried to avoid it by shaving the usb plugs down to the metal but it was not going to be robust enough, I chose the right side mainly as I was sitting that side with the seat out and it was close to my otg cable/cig power side.
What apps have you found really good?

Hi Richard,
My nb8b seats were std to my knowledge so cannot compare ride height, BUT the Bride LowMax seats have you sitting easy 1-2 inches lower, brilliant, it really makes the car a whole different driving experience as you don't move at all during weight transitions of the car, plus the lower seat height feels great, Im 176cm.
The lowmax seats are recline able which I think is a big plus, I have tried the sparco sprint 5's and found them too wide and too upright, didn't fit me well at all. 30-31in waist. The hip bolsters make getting in and out a bit special but once you get the right way its fine, your passengers will wine and forget being able to have things in your hands getting out haha.
You will need brides rails specific for the mx5 to make it a bolt in affair.
Worth the efforts.

Re: A NB8B Turbo progress.
I use Here Maps for offline nav, very good, it downloads the whole lot for whatever continent you want, aus is 900mb I think.
Torque since you have a aftermarket ecu, theres an app for megasquirt/haltech/adaptronic, just search the play store.
I use pocketcasts for podcast syncing across my phone/computer/(now car also)
Any mp3 player app will be fine.
I also finally got that q818xt gps thing working. Its charging on usb from the hub and using bluetooth to connect to the tablet.
The 10 hertz works, good seeing the speed numbers updating so fast
By the way, im using a 2012 nexus 7 because I a poor, so its not as nice or as fast as yours and on an old version of android since timur stopped development on the 2012 version ages ago.

Re: A NB8B Turbo progress.
Thanks for the tips on Here Maps syx, i will look into that... I'd been using Navme.
I use Torque on my NA8B, it's awesome as I have a later model NB8B ecu so OBD2 works flawlessly.
No idea if it works with Megasquirt.
I run MSDroid on the Mesguirted track car on the Nexus 7 2012.

Hey Corey,
I have only used the seat with the rails, obviously but combined they sit approx 1.5-2" lower than the nb8b seats...bout perfect.

Re: A NB8B Turbo progress.
Finally got Speedy to a track day, I recently joined the NSW Mx5 Club and headed down to Wakefield Park for the monday 11th session that they had organised for members and friends. I had some Nankang NS2R 205/45/16 tyres in 180 treadwear put on and running qfm a1rm pads.
Conditions were perfect, as a first timer we were given an experienced driver to take us around in our own cars. I has Gus, brilliant bloke..but...he likes to go fast and found the throttle oversteer very enjoyable, welcome to the trackday, sideways at pace, all good but took a little while to loose the jitters of what could happen if I hoofed it mid corner.
After getting some clear track and slowly building up towards a racing line...well as far as my courage and skill would allow (undeniable lack of both) I was getting some 1.16 laps... slow for the car but pretty exciting as it was my first track day apart from one 15 years ago...
Sorry for several things, the i-phone mount position, the poor lines and the lack of pace, but just sharing our first track outing.
This one was a 1.16.05
