NC headlight to L.E.D ?
Has anyone seen any L.E.D headlight replacement for a NC? My new NC is very "milky" on the inside of the lens. I would like to replace with L.E.D or if anyone has information on how to remove the headlight and clean the inside including the dirty bulbs this would be very helpful

Are you sure it's milky on the inside? Usually headlights go milky on the outside as the plastic lens fades over time from the sun. I would try a headlight polishing/restoration kit before pulling them apart.
As for pulling them apart, I'm not clued up on LEDs as headlights so can't really help you there but if you google Headlight Lens Removal there will be a walkthroughs about heating up the headlight in the oven to soften the glue that holds the Lens to the housing.

+1 for headlight polish.
PlastX is what I used on the NB and it works great.
If you're in melb you can borrow my bottle to see if it helps, NAs don't really have this problem ;)

Terrific guys. Thank you for the input..
I will try some products tomorrow and send a before and after photo. I had not considered that the milky lens could be on the outside. For whatever reason, it looked inside.
Report back soon

Well, all sorted. Thanks to the responses. Thank you again
I polished the outside of the lens and what a difference!
Now back to looking at a potential change to LED

You are not comparing apples and apples. The light source is totally different ie a QH bulb fitting into a light unit optimised for it - an led lamp is designed on totally different optics and light source. There is not really a problem with light performance in an NC as far as I am aware. If people are having a problem seeing with standard lighting then glasses may be required.

Re: NC headlight to L.E.D ?
G'day, I'm a newby NB8A owner so this is slightly OT. My NB is fitted with cheap HID headlights that are not up to it and I intend fitting better quality replacements. My Jaycar guy asked me to get the model/type of HID fitted to an NB. Can someone help me with this as I can't find anything helpful on the headlight package?
Cheers

Re: NC headlight to L.E.D ?
Mazda never fitted HID headlamps to any NB. The NB was first fitted with 60/55W halogens in a conventional reflector. Probably not a great light limited by reflector size but should be adequate. In a reflector headlamp size did matter- witness the old Falcons which had excellent lamps. The next model of NB had a projector lamp in the headlamp housing and my recollection is that fitting this lamo to the earlier models is a major job- I also expect that the difference is not worth the effort. Aftermarket hid light source units can be fitted to the early NB but its not legal and debatable whether its worth the effort. Even the NC in Aust never had HID or led . We had to wait for the ND for a LED lamp and not sure if its a good lamp or not.

P1ss the hid off and put in a decent set of halogen bulbs.
NB8A were never designed for hid. They just spread stray light everywhere and blind oncoming traffic

Plus 1 for Regie, and if it is your daily think about replacing them every 18 months. Shop for light value, not wattage!
