Re: mx5 SP fuel pump (HELP)
Don't count on my experience being normal but uprating to a 255 in my case seemed to be related to EFI relays starting to blow. Auto electrician did some wiring and relay upgrades and all good since including many track days.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Re: mx5 SP fuel pump (HELP)
Sorry i meant i have an SP not an SE in the original post!
Not really interested in uprating the pump unless the costs to replace for a standard pump are near the same. Are there any benefits seeing as it is a standard SP turbo
Does anyone know if the sp uses a different pump from a standard nb or even an se turbo?

Re: mx5 SP fuel pump (HELP)
They are the same as every other NB8B fuel pump. Nothing special.
I use walbro 255 in both turbo cars. They are readily available Repco ect.
Ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-Walb ... SwhkRWgkXA
Don't buy a cheap copy they only cost $100.00
THEY ARE NOISY THOUGH. Unless you are going to modify it extensively. I would use the standard genuine Mazda pump and do a straight swap.
Also would you like to add your name to the SP Register. That would be great.

Re: mx5 SP fuel pump (HELP)
Ok so mazda is quoting me for 2300 for a fuel pump from japan as mazda aus is out of stock!
Supercheap has quoted me for bosch and denso under $100
While repco with two variations of the fuelemiser at 130ish and 400ish bucks!?
That quite a big range! Any thoughts are these complete kits ready to be installed? What warrants this much difference in price!

Re: mx5 SP fuel pump (HELP)
I had the pump on my se go about 2 months ago, was quoted 1500 for the entire assembly or 1100 for just the pump. It is an 'obsolete part' apparently. I went with a walbro 255. It is louder but not ridiculous, install was simple, just followed a guide I found online.

Re: mx5 SP fuel pump (HELP)
Yeah, Mazda quoted me $1800 five years ago & it was for the entire assembly, ie the cradle & cap holding the fuel pump & fuel tank gauge sensor which slides into the top tank of the tank & is secured there by several screws.

Some slight mods required but there's lots of online guides for the 'How to'.
Basically both of these will work well and be reliable.
Walbro, as has been noted is noiser than stock, Deustchworks will cost a little more (may have to source online) but is OEM quiet.

Re: mx5 SP fuel pump (HELP)
Yep you'll need to crimp the power wiring on but it's fine. Been running a DW200 in my car for a while. No issues.
