True. Difficult to apply Kodo all the way from M2/MX-5 all the way to new CX-9. Think they've had a good stab at it though.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Dave, I have a set of 4 x 16" ND rims (the ones I shadowed, but they chipped) that have approx. 1000 kms on them, no marks, pristine, and I've stripped them back and undercoated them.
I'll be painting them back to original Mazda gun metal grey.
I haven't even thought about advertising them yet, but they are available.
I am also fitting the AutoExe front panels and I'll have a set of "fang lights" that I'll also be selling. The American forums are crawling for these items...haha!

The rumour mill has it that the new PRHT is coming within a fortnight.
Hope they are right. Apparently not what a lot of people are expecting. The rear window is vertical and that darn rumour about the targa thing is still persisting.....
Saving the pennies.....

I'm guessing they'll do something like the Pontiac Fiero:

ie. The rear window may be vertical but they'll mask it by including pop-up rear pillars to maintain the car's "swoopy" profile (would reduce visibility though).
The Yanks loved their 90* rear windows/cabins in the 70s and 80s but they looked bloody awful IMO - they would look out of place on the ND.
Don't worry about dying, worry about not living!

Burnt it and throw it back into the 80s.

Rocky wrote:The ND is the first one to aim to look trendy or contemporary and I think the younger generation will relate to it a lot better than mine who worked our way through the NA, NB & NC.
Interestingly, on the way to work this morning with my 13 year old daughter in the car (dropping her off at school along the way) we were joined by a red ND as were travelling along the freeway, first side by side, and then behind me. My daughter asked if that was the new MX5. I replied that it was and asked what did she think? She said, "I don't like it." Personally I am still noncommittal but tending towards the negative. What did strike me, however, was the ND seemed small in comparison to my NA.

My search gives 116 with 62 being manual? However that is more than ever.EDIT Just did a completly new search instead of my saved search and it did indeed come up with 184!!
SECOND EDIT,when you look at the 184 many are the Mazda NEW CAR ads that do not relate to an actual car but are descriptive and then direct you to a local dealer who in my experience will not have the car in stock,
Peter.
.Now ND2 Roadster prev NC2 Recaro's ,BBS wheels,full exhaust, Tiens NA 1.6.NA 1.8 LE(106RWKW)NC1,NC2.ND 1.5 .

Most of the new car adds are for cars in stock . A dealer advertising wouldn't lie just to get you in the door would they

How does a for sale advert relate to actual product sales?

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
carsales ads may not necessarily be for cars that are presently in stock and certainly don't relate to how many cars actually have been or will be sold. The present ads break down thus:
A. 1 private seller car.
B. 56 demos at dealers.
C. 4 demos at dealers, which have done more than 6,000kms and which carsales say have to be advertised as used cars because of the ks.
D. 122 listings are returned when the list is limited to new cars. Of those, a high proportion either don't have a photo, or seem to have a library photo, or have one of the same few pics of the same car in front of the same blue "MAZDA" advertising sign. It might be easy to assume that not all of these cars actually exist, or that some cars are listed multiple times. Some dealers might also feel quite justified in showing an "example" car on carsales, perhaps to get enquiries and will then explain the supply situation when you arrive.
In our case, the stock we have consists of two 1.5 GT manuals, one of which is Blue Reflex and registered as a demo and the other is White and in the showroom. We don't usually put them on carsales as we don't need to. We're still in the same supply situation, which is that when an order is placed we do deals within deals to acquire the earliest-allocated forward order within the Mazda Australia network which fits our customer's specification. We've been pretty successful with this, although it's cost us exchange stock of other hard to get models.
The fact remains that the cars are in short supply, and the safest way is to assume the exact colour and specification of car you want will need to be built for you. Expect that to take about 12 weeks. That way you will most likely not be disappointed, and might even get lucky as described above.
