I was wrong... There is a minor voltage drop at low revs causing an issue, but not at full revs. Thinking about it more, I think the oil pressure drop is very real, and an overrev or throttle blip during that starved state would be very bad for the bearings and perhaps the reason I did that rod bearing 6 months ago. I have a tendency to like a nice blip down under hard braking so I'm going to try and fix the issue. I would love to dry sump my engine but funds are tight and why buy when you can DIY?

Last night I pulled out my engine and had a look at the rod bearings I installed 6 events ago. Everything looks ok but whilst the sump is out, I'll put in some baffles and see how much it improves. I'll borrow from the Maruha design, making a simple baffle that extends around the front of the sump, except I'll add a small overhang at the top lip to stop oil spilling over under brakes. I'll also use metal hinges rather than rubber. Should be nice and cheap to make and effective if I get the design right.

something like this, which is a combination of various baffled sump designs I've seen online:

You know the irony here is I use photoshop for a living :)

I went out to the workshop for '10 mins' to make a template... ended up making an entire sump baffle.

Another hour later and it's done.

Not quite my original design but I figure I'll try this first. It's fairly well sealed on the front and has a bit of a fall towards the sump pickup. It should work well to stop the oil moving forwards.

If anyone wants one I can get a few waterjet cut now that I have a good template.
