The 290ftpd tune was about 18psi, it was pretty lively in 3rd gear on the street with even some spin in 4th. I have dropped the boost duty cycle in that 4500-5500 region down a tad sitting at a constant 16psi some id say I am 270-275ftpd peak now, feels really good, smooth and doesn't spin 3rd.

I know another guy who has 310ftpd at the wheels in the early mid range, 6sp on slicks too, Im watching his gearbox!!

Hi Again,

With your bluetooth megasquirt to android connection do you get any delay between eg. pressing accelerator and the display on the tablet updating ?
Do you have a usb cable to plug into your OTG hub setup to test if theres a difference when using a cable connection ?

Also are you going to use the tablet's bluetooth or are you going to get a usb gps reciever. Ive used dashware in the past on my bike with my phone doing the gps logging and dashware had trouble working out laps because the phone gps was too far out on a smallish track.
Something like this for $79 although ive seen that one on ebay for ~$35 I think. It outputs NMEA 0183 which is what this app uses and I think is the common way of doing it (still trying to learn)

I think you know a little bit more about this topic than I do. I have read that there is some delay with the Bluetooth device over the cable, but from what I understand the android apps only use Bluetooth so that's what I'm done with. I'll look into a little bit more about the GPS device but I haven't heard anything yet that would discourage using the inbuilt GPS device plenty of people using track day apps on iPhone and android device with great results. Thanks for your question definitely got my mind thinking on yet another facet of what's possible cheers

I have used bluetooth to connect from the megasquirt to an android tablet running msdroid, and there IS a small delay. However, having a more powerful/capable tablet can improve this lag.

I have connected the tablet to the ECU using USB, so yes it can be done. However I've not tested it extensively yet. I know the bluetooth is now fairly reliable.

If you want a reliable GPS, get a 10hz unit, such as Qstarz 818. It will connect via bluetooth and have a high/reliable refresh rate. Built in GPS's (as in, the one built in a phone/tablet) are usually lower refresh rates.

I'd trust anyone called beavis so Im ordering one and will report back.
After reading some more the hertz rate is literally how many times it records the position per second, so 10 hertz is 10 times per second and 1 hertz is 1 per second so you can get an idea of why my phone sucked at the track.
I dont know that its any more accurate per location update than a phone, but it will record a bunch more positions and presumably that averages it out and is a lot more accurate. Or, maybe it is more accurate per update aswell because of the different chip it uses.

A few little outings last few weeks. This one was a drive day at Ringwood hillclimb...first time driving the mx5 with a helmet on...few pics thanks to simon in a black mx5...Good fun, tight course and very much limited by grip, and skill but fun non the less. My times were pretty ok so all is well.

I have also been pulling my hair out trying to install the software to run the Tablet as a permanent install.
The software made by Timur (Timur's Rom/kernel) alows the tablet to turn on when the key is turn and off and into deep sleep when off. It also allows for faster charging than std so the nexus never runs flat while its running all the apps in car etc...

Basically from what I know, you need this bit of software...

Its 20 bucks...but its taken me several hours over several days of learning about how to install it...its done finally, and I have bonded with the tablet now...

If you want to use the timur's rom follow this guys instructions as they are WAAAAAAYYYY easier to follow and without them I would still be crying on my keyboard.

Last weekend I had the time to head down to Canberra to the MX5 Drift Day at Sutton driver training center.

Great fun and good for the skills...I think, I mean I think its a good skill to have to slide in the wet...Like I said I think it is, and probably so do you. I wrote my first car off in a mid speed slide 20 years ago (in Canberra as well) and have been bit spooked ever since by power sliding cars...weird, just never spent time working on it. So the drift day was a perfect place to have another go!

Below is some footage, there is more on others cameras but this is what I have...I spun allot, but had moments of competence...and I mean only moments. I'm going to work on it. :lol:

I bought all the electrical bits in the above picture on ebay australia, except the digital to analogue (dac) converter which due to costs I sourced from china. Nexus on gumtree. The amp I had and I will be using the speakers that are with the car, pretty nice 7" round things with tweeters... For me the goal is logging data from the megasquirt and seeing live engine info. The option for stereo playing my favourite music is a side plus, boring freeway trips or for the right bit of road combo...

There is a whole world of tech available for the androids...still waking up to what could be possible...

When it came to the install part I did a few things differently, if it helps anyone I'll explain and show some pics...

The fascia needs to be cut, I used a fine tooth hack saw with great ease, use the width of the nexus to guide how deep to cut.

I then used a narrow file to make the cut wider as required.

File the top tabs flat.

I used an alloy bracket from bunnings for the top brace.

I made cuts for the bracket to reset into the fascia.

Now for the dash trim. Cut these off...

Make a hole like this for the micro usb plug...I tried various other options such as 90deg usb adpaters but it just to dodgy after trimming them down enough to have them fit ...

Make it line up...do it last once you KNOW its in the right spot...

I took power from the cigarette lighter, using my 12v to 5v converter. I used little scotch lock clips.

It looks a little messy but what you see is the OTG cable that is powered from the 12/5v converter plugged to the nexus, then out to a usb hub which has my USB DAC for sending sound to the amp in the boot, and a usb port which will be in the centre console for adding files, music, video etc.

I ran my DAC usb and usb port down the centre, then also ran speaker and trigger wire back to the nexus the same way.
