Help installing GV lip - NB8A

Postby Zanon » Sun Feb 21, 2016 4:15 pm

Hey guys, just need some help in installing the GV lip. For the sides of the lip, do you have to drill holes for the screws? Also, for all the other bolts, do I have to man-handle the lip into the right spot, because I can't seem to get to get it to sit flush with the front bumper.

I can't help directly with the GV lip, but I have fitted a couple of lips in the past and had the same experiences with both. First was an NA R Package style lip (from eBay) and the second was a factory style lip on my NB8A that had been fitted by the previous owner but I had to remove after hitting a curb and replace the tape - this one seemed to go slightly out of shape over the few days it was off the car.

There was some drilling with the R Package lip. For fitment, both needed some flexing to fit satisfactorily.

I found the best way was to sit the lip in the sun for a few hours so that it was reasonably flexible. It also seemed to "return" to a closer fit than it was when first test fitting prior to warming. I found it handy to have a hair dryer (or similar) at hand while fitting to heat the lip so that it flexed better for a really close fitment.

Took a lot of fiddling around but it's done :)
