Yep, the NB8A 5 speed came from the factory with a 4.1.

Sounds right.

My NB8A with 6 speed and std 4.1 diff shows following speeds at 7000rpm.

1st 49.3
2nd 82.1
3rd 112.6
4th 147.5
5th 185.4
6th 219.9

My bad
Wrote 3.9, should have been a 4.1 for the NB8A
Speed in gears for a NB8A with a 4.1 at 7000rpm
1st 59.1km/hr
2nd 98.2km/hr
3rd 139.4km/hr
Same km/hr numbers

Yeah that seems about right... Any idea what it translate to acceleration times per gear?

Well it seems it may actually be the 4:1 with the 6 speed. It's a little confusing, I thought it would be better using the 3:9, although I did hear they are harder to come by.

Most of the repliers seem to feel that the 4:1 option will be the way to go. I guess it saves me on having to get a 5 speed also.

I won't be racing the car or anything, but it would be nice to have a little more midrange torque, particularly when passing or steep grades.

Thanks again for your suggestions. Please do keep them coming though. It helps in trying to weigh up the options.

Cheers, Wayne & Cath. :NB8B:    :NB8B:
