Our new 2L Roadster demo has just arrived and we have fitted Goodwin exhaust and midpipe(thanks to mx5parts.com.au), 17x8 949 wheels with Yokohama ADO8R 215/40 tyres and MCA Red coilovers. Haven't had enough of a chance to give it a good drive but first impressions are that it is a whole lot of fun. Look forward to coming to terms with it over the coming months

Interested in how you went with the Goodwin exhaust ... I put in a Roadster Street ( no midpipe ) and found it pretty loud .. particularly accelerating in streets in residential areas...
How are you finding it?

I actually thought it looked good, which really surprised me as I didn't like it in the photos.
The NA/NB/NC still look better to me - but I don't hate the ND anymore.

The ND definitely looks much better than you think in the flesh - the only thing I ever hated about it was the headlights though (still do).

Not sure how anyone can think that the NC looks better than the ND - IMO it's the "Ugly Duckling" of them all and will go down in history as the least desirable model based on looks alone (I concede that the NC may be a better car than the NA or ND but it's the furthest from the original MX5 concept).

I always think the NC is kinda quirky looking with that 'cross-eyed' look, but not unattractive once you get used to it.
What surprised me most about the NC was how different the shape is when you put it beside a NB or NA.
Seen away from them it looks much the same but side by side it is different.
The ND is VERY different.

Dont agree on the NC. Shape is fine and its a fine car. I think it is a shape and execution thats easy to admire without too much of a shout out. ND are alrady drawing some complaints

It is, of course, entirely subjective, but I think the NA is the most elegant, with the NB next, then the ND. The NC does nothing for me and actually reminds me of an AMX 40 tank https://i.ytimg.com/vi/VuZJVBtvPBM/maxresdefault.jpg... I think I played too much World of Tanks.

So true.

Personally, my favourite has always been the NB8B/C series. The interior is much more to my liking than the NA. Exterior wise, I think I'm 50/50 NA/NB. I love the old style classic look of the NA, but I hated driving mine with the pop up lights. The exterior of the NB series has a modern classic look about it that I think will endure over time.

During my search for an auto PRHT NC (befor I purchased my SE), I just couldn't get past the feeling that the NC's just had less personality for me. I couldn't gel with any of them. I actually really like the appearance of the NC's and I was really keen on getting one, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get the same feeling for them that I have for the NA/NB's.

My only drive of the ND so far, I was very surprised how much I liked its appearance in the flesh, and was very happy driving it. I felt at home pretty quickly in the cabin, so I guess that's all good for me for later on when they come down to my affordability range ...

I don't get the description elegant for NA if you see it with the headlights in the raised position The truth was that Mazda did not really want the pop up lights but did not have an alternative at the time. It spoiled the look of the car but fair enough if people like that touch of ugliness e.g. Bug eye Sprites - some love them. The NB seems to me to be the best looking- great lines without exaggeration. The NC followed suit by being clearly a sports car with good profile and not too heavy with the catch your eye routine. Now the ND is far more exaggerated and it may date faster we shall see. They sold a lot of NCs and plenty of quiet owners on this forum. The comment that NC is an AMX 40 tank is clearly another shout out comment which is quite ridiculous. Time will tell but the NC still fulfils the requirements of a modern sports car which offers more than a dips me lid to practicality by offering a folding hardtop. The ND will falter pretty quickly unless it offers more to a wider public. A soft top only is not going to have long legs for sales because there are just too many people who see rag tops as anachronistic.

I know that it's a good sport on this form to disagree with everything Morlock posts, but I'm inclined to agree that this forum is too harsh on the NC. I think it's a good looking car, especially the second and third iterations. And I think it feels more solid than any other generation (probably because it is). If you slam the door on an NA, NB or ND it's a really unpleasant experience. If you slam the door on an NC everything sounds solid and bolted together. In the garage threads, nothing looks better than a well modded and cared for NC.

Is the ND going to falter pretty quickly? I'm pretty sure Mazda would also agree with Morlock and will have folding hardtops etc in the pipeline.

Not sure why the preoccupation with the NA headlights,i thought the idea was to use them at night when you cannot see them!!Love the NA proportions.
I think all models have their attraction but do think the NC gets a bit of unjustified stick and think a lowered one looks smick, just a bit sad with the drab colours that the majority came in.

Like the ND , it may age a bit quicker than the others but wouldn't stop me buying one!
