Re: Just Car Insurance
Another helpful post from Lizard - oh, I mean SE.
I haven't heard the stories you have, but consider their source. If they seem like legit claims from trust worthy people (ie, you beleive their side of thes story) then maybe steer clear of Just Car. But basically they should come through as long as your mods are declared, and - in the case of questionable legality - if they did not contribute to the cause of the accident.
All insurance companies will pay as little as they can though. None of them are to be trusted.

Re: Just Car Insurance
All insurance companies are $%$#%$%#$, if it is an expensive claim, then they'll look to avoid paying out.
ring Shannons, not just the website. I've found over phone they can give better quotes, especially if you have a cheaper quote from some one else.
Shannon not only provide choice of repairer, but will use genuine parts, check you justcar PDS carefully as they will use non-genuine/"recycled" parts. NRMA will also use non-genuin parts, most large insurance companies do this now.
I have not had a car written off with Shannons, but I have had minor bumper damage and it was fairly painless.

Re: Just Car Insurance
if your car is not your daily driver, consider NRMA classic insurance http://www.nrma.com.au/car-insurance/ve ... ge-classic
I recently renewed with NRMA classic for my NB8A and was surprised how "cheap" it was compared standard insurance.
Positives: vehicle can be insured at agreed value and does not depreciate, my excess is only $300 and choice of repairer
Negatives: car can only be used upto 10 days a month.

Re: Just Car Insurance
I've been with AAMI and recently moved to Shannons.
Have made a not at fault claim with each of them.
as far as the process goes, both were basically identical, which I expected since they are both owned by Suncorp.
the only issues I had were the AAMI claim one of the people in the call centre gave me the wrong details and said i'd be paying an excess since I didn't have the other driver's home address (note that I had rego, name, insurance company, insurance policy number)
I called 5 mins later and the next operator told me that that was rubbish and all they needed was rego and name.
the repair process was simple, I dropped the car off at the repairer and collected it 2 days later.
The Shannons claim was smoother in the call centre, and used the same repairer (capital smart) but I needed to take the car back for them to paint it a second time after they did an abysmal job on the first attempt.. that was the repairer's fault though, not Shannons.
Bascially, no issues with Shannons, but make sure that if you need to make a claim you've got a shop in mind, otherwise it ends up at Smart (owned by Suncorp I think) who from all accounts can do a good job, but they cut corners if they think you wont notice.

Re: Just Car Insurance
my guess is that NRMA would be fine. One of the ways you can check on Insurance co;s is go down and talk to a few repairers and ask them which co's give them the least problem in speed service etc. A local repairer was quite clear which co's to avoid. Shannon's are not competitive on all car insurance and some just assume otherwise. The classic car insurance is not going to suit a daily modern car and saving a bit on a premium is only part of the equation.

I have made two claims with them without issue. Boths cars had strut braces, wheels, brake mods, exhaust mods, roll bars, stereos, intake mods, coilovers etc.

Re: Just Car Insurance
I was with just car many many years ago. Made a claim and swore to never use them again.
I'm now with Shannons and my wife hads made a claim and they were so much easier, more professional to deal with.
How old are you and what no claim bonus do you have?
Way back then just car had an excess 3 times that of Shannons.
Food for thought.

I don't drive one. If JC didn't pay up due to unroadworthiness, I fail to see them in the wrong.Dundy2456 wrote:Mods outside RMS specifications and not engineered?

Re: Just Car Insurance
No dealings with JC but listened late last year to Ray Hadley 2GB and a call you YOUI - guy insured with YOUI got rear-ended and they rejected his claim against them as the guy who hit him had a 'medical episode' and as such they deemed him not responsible! Best radio I heard for years as Hadley grilled the GM of YOUI and fielded calls from people ringing to say they had just cancelled with YOUI and changed to elsewhere
Shannons? No way! 50% higher than NRMA for my '89 B-Spec and NRMA discounts for cars doing less than 5,000km/pa

Re: Just Car Insurance
I have insurance with just car and asked a few people and did some research before I took out a policy with them for my Evo.
My understanding from reading a thread on Evo Oz was they generally pay out even if you have illegal mods but you won't get the choice of repairer like you'd get with Shannon's.

Re: Just Car Insurance
Its fruitless comparing car insurance quotes in $$$ only .Personally I probably pay more for service and piece of mind that when I need to make a claim there will be no hassles. No one here has stated there age driving record where they park there car age of the car what its worth where they live all these make a massive difference to quote you receive . Often insurance company's DONT want your business that's ok it there shareholders (and my super
) they are protecting so don't blame the insurance company look at why they don't want you. Some one here said they had a quote from Shannons for $1600 and said no way and didn't give any details I pay $3000 pa with Shannons for 5 cars cover value $130000 work that out in cents per dollar insured I'm very happy to have the best cover at a very reasonable price
