faulty TPS

So a while back my nb8a started to develop a hesitation on acceleration. Coasting in gear and then getting on the throttle (not WOT) the car would hesitate for about 2 seconds before accelerating as normal.
Idle is completely normal and car has no power/hesitation problems running WOT.
I have replaced plugs, leads, 02 sensor, ecu is stock, fuel filter is only couple thousand kms old - no improvement
Today I disconnected the TPS and went for a drive. Car now idles at 1500rpm but hesitation has completely gone!

So does this make any sense and does it prove my TPS is the fault? I would have thought I would have a bad idle with TPS.
Could it be a bad connection or should I just replace it?

Try very carefully cleaning the MAF hotwire with MAF cleaner.
You could also try Nyogel grease on the TPS connection.

I'll just point you towards my thread.

Sounds very similar to my issue, nb8a also.

I am still learning and haven't tried everything suggested to me yet, due to work and house search priorities.

Does your issue go away once the engine completely warms up? I don't mean once the temp gauge hits halfway but after a good 10 minutes of driving.

I've got a couple of mates coming around some weekend soon to help me strip the entire intake and redo all the gaskets and clean the gunk out. I'll keep you posted.

So for those interested the problem was the 02 sensor.
Despite it being only 1 yr old I pulled it out and bench tested it. Turns out it wasn't working.
Replaced with a new one an now runs perfect again.

I guess disconnecting the TPS may have masked the problem as it would have just run in open loop and ignored the (faulty) 02 sensor?

...and another tip - be very careful cleaning the Hotwire on the maf i.e. dont touch it! I managed to snap mine off just lightly brushing it with a q tip.

A good result. I've replaced mine and had no such luck, although it does run a bit smoother. Thanks for updating with your result.
