I disagree, it will need more rubber to be a front running car on the track, the same as the NC does. It could probably even take more rubber because it's more powerful.
As long as you can steer the extra corner speed makes up for the small difference in acceleration on the straight.
The best semi compounds only have 45 profile in for 17' wheels until you get to a 245 which forces your hand around the profile if you want to run 17's.

Yeh, was saying he wants to put 10mm wider tyres on it with no change in profile though, that's not going to reduce acceleration enough to worry about in my opinion.

Thanks for this Dan, this is quite interesting. I must admit I wasn't assuming that headers had already been developed for the SkyA2.0 and did assume that "exhaust" in the above post meant from the headers back.
However, according to the Goodwin website: "Installing this header in the MX5 Miata means removing the first catalytic converter ...", which indicates to me that it will be illegal in an Australian road registered car built in 2015/16. One of the conundrums Mazda overcame when developing the SkyA engines was to get the Cat converter to be very close to the engine, and give the headers some decent length. The length allowed reasonable power, and the closeness of the cat allowed emissions requirements to be met (from fast heat up and operation of the cat). Then they used photos of their header in magazine ads everywhere.

Whenever someone is willing to ignore various regulations, such as some forms of emissions, and spend more on individual components, then power can be gained. My own engine is also testament to this. Hi StillIC, having never modified any cars previously and only basing my comments on what I have read in various MX5 Forums to date, companies like OVTUNED and DYNATRONICS are already achieving 15 to 20Kw increase in power with ECU tunes and exhaust mods. Also when I checked the Mazda website, the Skyactiv 1.5 is used in numerous Mazda models and outputs range from 79Kw to 96Kw out of the factory (a 21.5% variation) so I didn't think my expectations were unrealistic. The 2.0 litre Skyactiv in the MX5 is currently tuned for 95RON so a step up to 98RON with a less restrictive exhaust along with a refined tune should get reasonable gains without getting to adventurous.

Contrary to popular belief, the manufacturers job is to make money, not to make the fastest car possible.
Also the general markets tastes dont necessarily match yours.

It's the same deal with the NC which has the first of two cat converters in the header, most people just get a header without a cat and delete the first cat when they replace the header.
Even though it's not technically legal I don't think anyone is ever going to get pinged for it since it's not like you have a decat exhaust.

Hi all
We can confirm all the Goodwin Racing Roadstersport mufflers fit both the 1.5 and 2 litre cars, with either manual or auto transmission. We can also confirm the Roadstersport Catted Midpipe fits both the 1.5 and the 2 litre. We have fitted them on both however, we have not confirmed fitment on the 1.5 with Auto Transmission. They do fit the 2 litre with either auto or manual transmission.

For suspension, look what MCA did for Danny's ND. Note, MCA aren't fans of sway bars, so thier coilovers are designed to make the most of what you've got stock.
There are some good exhausts out there too. Mostly, you can look at what they've done stateside as they've had the 2.0 for a bit longer than us, so from there you could probably start considering a reflash and other performance changes.
Try not to change too much at once though. It's nice to expereience and evaluate each change on it's own. It also makes it easier to realise if you've made a misstep.
I'm very happy with the MCA XC that I have in my ND. Yes you notice the increase in spring rate over very big bumps but the damping is better and the car has more composure all round; unless you have experience driving a stock ND you wouldn't know it was on coils.
