Yesterday I went on a trip up to Sydney to pick up some more parts including a 6 speed short shifter, Adaptronic Select ECU and some 6ul Wheels in 15x9 +36 rear 15x8 +36 front. I also received my RX8 injectors courtesy of crumpet :)

Looks mega.
I can't decide between an MS2 family ecu or the adaptronic.
What was your reasoning behined the adaptronic?

I chose Adaptronic for a few reasons. Firstly is because it is widely used amongst tuners in Australia which is very important when getting your car tuned, a lot of tuners may not use megasquirt so either a) wont be fully confident tuning it or b) will refuse to tune it. The service I have gotten with Adaptronic is excellent, very helpful in answering all the questions I had and even had videos for me to watch to understand some stuff more; and also because they seem to put a lot of development into car specific ecus, this ecu is a direct plug and play into my loom and specific to my car; for example theres certain problems with alternators on NB's which this ecu takes care of.

Hmmmm...
I'll probably end up with adaptronic simply because of the exchange rate. It puts the megasquirt in the same price bracket as an adaptronic and by all accounts the adaptronic is much more powerful, although, my NA8 doesn't need vvt or alternator control.
The megasquirt seems to have a lot of diy support through miata turbo, but I suppose having andy available is just as good if not better.

That is true, there is diy support for the adaptronic also, and if you get stuck with anything I don't doubt the adaptronic team would help you with whatever you need.

Tonight I've been working on some custom canards, trying to get the right shape and positioning. Will be doing some research into aerodynamics tonight which can aid in my design.

they look too steep, give it more of a gradual increase in angle rather than having the air hit a 45deg wall

Still working on the car and more parts. I have a few things waiting to do to the car which I will document soon. I picked up some new wheels (again). Heres how it currently looks.

Looking to get new tyres for these and possibly massage the arches a bit more and adjust ride height according to new tyre size. Thinking either 205/50 Kumho KU36, 195/55 Toyo R1R or 225/45 Hankook RS3.

Looks super aggressive, usually the 15x8 +0 thing looks a bit big, but it really works on your car.

How is the gauge ring project coming along?

Very good, happy with how they turn out. Currently testing fitment for NA Gauge clusters. Will be released soon!


In other news I got a new Renown Monaco Rosso and installed it onto an NRG slim hub. I removed the clock spring and made small tab to contact the horn ring on the back of the hub, I also went ahead and put a 3.3 ohm resister into the airbag module to stop the airbag light from showing. Everything functions fine including the indicator cancellers and am very happy with it. I also got a 50mm hub spacer to bring the wheel closer to me.

I've also picked up a rear bumper that I cut out and I've been doing some photoshopping for what my car will look like soon with the lightyear fastback I am waiting to get (I used an autokonexion one in the render) also a rear diffuser and side skirts.

I also installed some QFM A1RM Brake pads which feel good so far!

That rendering looks badass.

Is that bumper cut photoshopped or is that how much you actually cut? Did you remove the rear bumper reinforcement

Thanks! This cut is from the rendering but is probably not far off what I actually cut, I will get a picture for you, my cut is almost dead even with the bottom of the reinforcement bar.
