Brenden your failure is definitely the clutches fault, but there are a TONNE of clutches and some fail. Your single broken clutch is but one mark against a company who sells thousands and thousands a year.

I went for the extra heavy duty xtreme. Advertised at 930kg clamping force.

Supports supercharger power just fine above 6000 rpm, no slip, no fuss.

It actually reminds me of the exedy sports tuff that I run in my 13bt rx7 but was half the price!
NA6 turbo - 140kw atw - not the most powerful but so much fun :D

I have an Xtreme clutch in my Integra and MX5, and have no problems. The Integra is now a track only car, and the MX5 has been turbocharged.

All products, despite the brand have the odd failure. Thing is, people are prepared to overlook the failures of the big brands but beat up the lesser known brands.

"Thing is, people are prepared to overlook the failures of the big brands but beat up the lesser known brands". I would think the opposite. If you buy an Exedy clutch you can expect excellent quality and little chance of manufacturing fault but a clutch from a small co perhaps not using a certified quality system is far more likely to have variable quality. If one takes the trouble to look at the statements on some sites its pretty obvious many co's don't have formal systems.

Thats my old Exedy clutch after slightly over 50,000kms....doesnt look too good

in saying that I'm running a Xtreme clutch and haven't been happy with it since it was installed, 45,000km or so ago. Really my fault for not taking the car back after it was installed. :D

There is still plenty of life left in the clutch but Fidenza flywheel and Exedy HD clutch will be installed in the coming weeks :D

Biggest thing for me is how the company deals with the problem after purchase.

If they offer to replace the item with new, great.
If they offer to inspect the item then replace if they believe it to be a manufacturing fault, not as good, but understandable.

If they simply ignore calls or say "this part is a consumable and not warranted once fitted" then there's problems.





I've currently got a Valeo clutch fitted to my car, and I wouldn't really recommend it.
It's ok, but it's always had a shudder from day 1 and sometimes slips a little.
In saying that, my rear main seal is leaky which probably explains the slip, and the flywheel is the same one that the car came from the factory with in 1999

You're stating the obvious and missing the point.

Ask Dann or Suli how many big name exhausts / manifolds they've repaired (and how poorly manufactured they are). And at the same time, how many owners complain about those failures...conversely how many would bitch about a lesser known brand failing, and how that is "to be expected".

Look at the number of 949 wheels that have failed, yet people still buy them. Compare that with Rota...and what people associate with the brand.

I completely agree with morlock about lack of process in many business's.

I completely agree with Bryan about larger companies getting the "must have slipped through the cracks", smaller companies getting the "This company sucks" feedback.
