Check your motor mounts.
If one is toast/not installed properly then whole engine gearbox combo can be tilted which would cause gearstick to be off centre..

Hmmm....did anyone figure out a solution to this?

I've had 2x NB8Bs, both stock, both with the "stick too far to the left" issue. Both were original cars (original engine on original mounts), and in one of them I replaced the engine, and installed new mounts, and again after installation with new mounts the shifter was still crooked.

The top plate of the 6 speed transmission was straight and level relative to the body, so I'm reasonably confident that the transmission / driveline is correctly located & installed.

I note that you can install the 6 speed shifter backwards, but this doesn't affect the left leaning of the shifter. If noone has any further input, I'll get around to pulling the shifter assembly apart and investigating the cause.
