Federal 595 RS-RR

Mate fitted the RR (215 45 17) to his ND. They are noisy but aren't lacking in grip.

At least being soft they'll wear out sooner than later and by then Federal may be back to a quieter tyre like their previous R.

Fitted my new wheels this weekend and took the car for a drive.
The RS-RR tire is noisier than the RS-R. It is not too loud but it is a little unnerving when you are used to listening for noises from your car that indicate wear.

I need tyres for another set of rims. Been running the RSR's and happy with them but no longer available. I see people rate the newer RSRR as a lot noisier. Do they get r louder with wear or hopefully quieter? Also any loss of grip as they wear?

generally speaking, These type of tires are not affected by heat cycles. But as the tread wears to the end of its life, I would expect a fraction of loss in performance. After about 2 years from original date of manufacture the compound will perhaps start reducing more in performance. I mean to say That the compound itself will be ok after 2 years. But after say 3 or 4 years you would perhaps have a significant reduction in performance because of the compound getting harder.

In the past Ive usually chosen a tyre which will last me about 2 years with Km'm traveled. Ive had 1 which lasted me about 12k km, another about 15k km. it also depends what type of driving you do with these & your alignment. It needs to be appropriate for the driving you do.

The noise doesn't bother me personally. Ive gone deaf with age & years of loud exhausts.....and everything else probably helped too...then there is my DNA.....

I would say the noise becomes a bit less over time. I have not done a lot of km's in the last 11 months but there is still a noticeable noise and I am a lot less bothered by the noise.

On the plus side, the performance of the tire is very good in both wet and dry. I did a track day at Eastern Creek about a month ago and was really happy with the performance of the tire. Very predictable and when pushed beyond the limit of grip it was easy to gain control.
Really good value tire IMO.
