No worries Alf. Arthur's Seat seems to be the go for test drives.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Hi Guys,
Just got my car back from Automotive Plus last week. They fitted a twin sports exhaust and the Autoexe under tray.
The sound is awesome, if a little loud for my old decrepit ears.
I feel like I'm 18 again, now, pulling up at the lights and revving the engine....hahaha!

The guys at Automotive Plus did a first class job, highly recommend them. I'm going back in January to have my Autoexe front aero kit installed by them, too.
Frank

Pick up my 2.0 litre GT in the coming week. Nice Christmas pressie. Dealer says they have 6 2.0 litre NDs in this lot. Arrived in Brisbane last week.

G'day Tennyson ...
Is your rearview camera a Mazda part number? I've seen another (from the US) that seems to be more flush mounted, and I hope the one I have ordered from Mazda (on backorder) is the latter. If the local version is indeed like yours I guess I'll have to design a shroud to make it more integrated and print on my 3D printer.
Cheers.

Yeah, mate, that's the genuine Mazda job.
I'm actually pretty gob-smacked at how ugly and "after-market" looking, it is.
I am also making a little fairing to hide the hideous piece of crap. I'd take it off, but it is extremely functional and works a treat.....it just looks rubbish!

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
hmmm ....
guess I need to make a call to the dealer then and see if it's the other (flush mounted) camera type they have ordered:
Part # NDN1-V7-532
and if they haven't, figure out a way to get the flush mounted one.
Thanks Frank.

Me too, and I sell them for a living.
My parts dept can't yet tell me if they're going to be able to get the USA version, so I'll be interested to hear about any fairings that are made, because it seems a shame that the cars with MZD can't be easily had with a decent looking integrated camera.
Ooh er, is that the first negative thing I've found to say about ND?

it is not a pretty solution. Undertray looks good though, we will be fitting up our first Mazda bodykit parts this week

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Took the 1.5 and 2 liter for a back to back drive today Came away wondering what were Mazda thinking with the decision to have a choice of engines.
IMO the choice should be a 2 liter and then a "SE" turbo version exactly the opposite to what they have done . Coming from a SE that I drove up through Galston Gorge to the stealership there is no way I would purchase a ND its lost its character and sole even more so than the NC

I am also waiting to see if the rear camera model that is being fitted by USA drivers becomes available as the Oz option looks like a cheap ebay knock off. The model # quoted by 89red above is actually being imported from Mazda Japan by USA drivers and is not a standard USA option. If this model is not available when I get my ND in March I will import it myself and get in fitted after market.

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Spoke to the dealer's spare parts guy re. the rearview camera and the local part number is indeed different than the ones the US guys are importing and using [ NDN1-V7-532 )
We are using Part # ND11-ACSP1-(colour code of vehicle), and was told it is likely different due to ADR compliance.
Oh Well ... though it's not ideal, I will rarely see it, so will go ahead and wait for it to arrive, then design and fabricate a shroud to blend it in.
Could be worse though. We could have been stuck with a sharkfin aerial on the boot lid .. LOL
Cheers.

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
The aussie spec one looks horrendous, it genuinely looks like it's been installed by a drunk bloke with a budget of $5
Most aftermarket installs of cameras i've seen are nicer than that, either in a small fairing, or flush mounted into the bumper (which would be easy to do on the ND, there's no shortage of rear bumper to play with)
They could have at least mounted it further back under the number plate lip, and a bit higher up, tucking it right under the lip where the lights are.
That would also help protect the lens from rain/dirt as well as making it stand out less.

Seriously its a non issue seems a bit crazy that people are checking out your rear end camera! Perhaps the camera is adjustable so enclosing it in a housing may interfere with that.
