Anyone swayed by a CONVERTIBLE Mustang?

Fast back is better looking car - but its the convertible for me.

Love open air motoring, surf, sun and sixties on the stereo.
Got MX cos only affordable reliable soft top going around - until factory built RHD Stang arrives. No more dodgy right hand drive conversions or doubtful "Californian cars."

My NB was beautiful - looks wise, only its mother could love my NC.

I don't buy new - always happy to let the first owner cop the depreciation. Based outta Vietnam, next couple of years see only 3000 km annually on the NC. Comes out of storage four times a year. Back in town its a daily driver.

Reckon I got one more V8 left in me.

Yeah ... I keep saying to my wife, I'd love to own one more V8 ...

Thought about one of the last Holden's - maybe an SS Redline - but a used 'stang in a few years would satisfy a childhood dream ....

Never forgotten the 'ol "Nothing quite like a V8" campaign ... :twisted:

Unfortunately, none of today's 8's have that same "bark" you could get from the old 308's with a good set of Genies and a straight through dual 2" system .....

Agree. Aussie V8s.
Ford have examined every aspect of the "retro" Stang and know what the market wants. The sound has been augmented.
Check out a few YouTube reviews where guys give it a kick.

V8s at the drags straight of the extractors are a beautiful thing.

As far as the mustang, I actually had a dream I purchased one years ago, before they were announced here. It was an awesome dream, I did a huge burnout, smoke everywhere, then went and told my mate that I purchased a mustang and it does huge burnouts, come look! :lol:

So, it's probably going to happen - it's not something I'm planning, but if I happen to see a secondhand fastback on carsales one day with more than 500 horses at the wheels, it's going to be hard to stop myself. Some dreams should come true. (I figure in 10 years they'll be like xr6 turbos are now; going for $15k-$25k with work already done)

I don't suppose I am ever going to 'get' the V8 thing.
I have dríven a lot of Club Sports owned by my cousin and they do absolutely nothing for me.
He has a big buck hand restored '68 Mustang Fastback with a crate 428 motor and manual box, upgraded suspension and brakes. Paint job was worth more than my MX5 new.
Leaves me cold. Drives like a '68 Falcon. Looks nice though.

None of them ever handled very well, probably still don't judging by the few modern Falcodores who've tried to stay with me through the hills :mrgreen:

... I spent a fortune back then getting my Monaro's and Falcons just to stay on the road.

But still, there's something about that lazy low down torque and deep growl ...

Those two extra seats are mighty appealing.
I think I'd end up with the 4cyl though. With a bit of tuning they are making equal if not more power than the V8 and the savings on rego and insurance are a bigger sway than that glorious V8 rumble (I know my priorities are wrong)

On our honeymoon the wife and I drove a brand new 2009 6cyl convertible for well over 1000 miles around California, Arizona and Nevada. It was the old live rear axel suspension and being a rental it was of course Auto but it really was a good all rounder. From canyon roads up behind LA to eating highway miles we really loved it. Roof up it was like a sedan and obviously not as claustrophobic as the MX.
We wont get the 6cyl over here though and it is really a "why bother" in the range considering how good the other two engines are. Also with the new IRS (which is pretty much a copy of the Falcon Control Blade setup) These new Mustangs will be even better to drive and make the perfect "daily" convertible.
