Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
One of my most vivid memories.....when I'd just bought my AH Sprite.... was a car featured in a car magazine....... Someone had shoehorned a fiat 1600 twin cam into a Sprite....
I've realised my dream(only better)....NA8

then do you remember the worst possible nightmare of British Leyland putting Triumph engines in the last of the MG Midgets?
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

I was going to post this. Man, I'd love one of those, they're the Singer of MGs.

Hadn't heard that, but have chatted with a former owner of an AH Fright (E Type engined Bugeye).

Just getting back on topic...
Mazda called me today about my ongoing "thunk" when driving over potholes and cats-eyes.
The Mazda engineers want to take a look next week and have some solutions to try.
the only fix I'll be accepting is changing the rear calipers for the modified Australian ones, similar to the ones that they made for the US models. From reading their forum, Mazda have replaced their calipers and brake pads and it's been really successful.
here's a pic of the newly modified calipers:

Do you have any comparison photos with the original brackets to show what's changed and why?

Even the cheapest one 'starts' at $118,000.. That's new Cayman/Boxster money. I know which I'd prefer....

Mazda should do the problem solving and implement the fix- whatever the cause is.

Precisely, but there are others who have gladly paid that for a classic with modern mechanicals.

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Driving an MX-5 is obviously not meant to be about getting good fuel consumption. However, my ND (1.5L MT Roadster) continues to amaze me with it's real world economy. The official ADR 81/02 figures are 6.1L/100km Combined Test, 8.1L/100km Urban, 4.9L/100km Extra Urban. Compare that with my carefully logged results after 7000km using 10 fills of Caltex 95RON and 3 fills of 98RON: average 6.14L/100km, worst 6.76L/100km, best 5.53L/100km. This is with a mix of daily driving, club runs, spirited mountain blasts, and the worst figure includes about 20 laps on the track at Marulan. The OBC average consumption is very accurate too, and is within +/- 0.2 of the calculated figure.
For reference, after 46000km using 95RON for 94% of the fills, my 2009 NC2 PRHT MT gave me an average of 7.83L/100km, best of 6.65L/100km, worst of 9.42L/100km. It has an ADR 81/02 Combined figure of 8.1L/100km. Interesting to see that my 22% lower consumption in the ND matches closely with the 25% smaller engine capacity. I'm definitely not having 22% less fun in the ND either!

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
Well done Guran! Very nice figures indeed
Both my NA & NB sit around 7.2L/100km - 8.00L/100km and I'm happy with that, add a track day in the NB and its still pretty good
Take the NB on a long trip and its 6.2L/100km or thereabouts but a/c knocks it back when used
