Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
I have a 20yo friend who bought an ND. And if I had the money I'd be knocking on the door of my Mazda dealer.

I don't think having the money has much to do with it but access to credit/ finance does. 220 August 97 in following month is that telling us it's already in decline- only the long term will give the answer.

Hard to gauge sales numbers with so many waiting for the 2.0L model to be released.

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
The first month is always gonna be the biggest since the dealerships are buying in all their stock. The second month at 97 is probably a truer indicator of sales volume.
But pretending you know how the market is running cos one month sales where 220 and the second month was 97 is laughable. Not even enough data to see a trend yet. A question to the experts - Have we seen the sales plateau out yet? Has the decline slowed? Can you get all the data required to answer from 6 weeks data? haha

If they capped the yearly supplies to 1500 in the first year. Take away the first months "sales", the remaining 11 months has a monthly supply limit of 116 cars(averaged out).

As I suggested, one per dealer per month. Some dealers will do better than that and hope to get spare stock from dealers who do less well.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Re: How many people r going to buy the new model ND
I am not sure if any of us know what the distribution is i.e. what how many cars in the country. I also doubt that each dealer gets a car - that sounds odd. Ie A metro dealer might sell 5 cars in a month but country dealer might not sell 5 in a year- maybe that wrong headed thinking. You might imagine maybe incorrectly that Mazda has a holding yard and sends out vehicles as required. Ultimately its how many that is sold that tells the story but that can also be understating potential if there is a shortage of supply.

Nothing is in concrete. But I think Dave has more info on the subject that the keyboard experts on this forum.
The last new Mazda I brought was somewhere on a boat near Guam heading south when I signed the paperwork. Dealership had to ring HQ to get VIN. Then the VIN was changed 3 times as musical cars happened between dealerships.

There is indeed a shortage of supply, Mr M.
Some models are available from a quasi holding yard. MX5s are not as Australia is getting less cars than we could sell.
Some dealers' stock controllers have great relationships with other dealers and can often get extra cars swapped in including MX5s because of being helpful with cars they've swapped out. I'm lucky in having a genius stock controller.

40+ is remarkable - not many of us manage to keep cars for all sorts of practical reasons. So Odd did you buy the ND or one of its earlier and worthy predecessors.

Reminiscent of the couple Dave mentioned who recently ordered an ND to upgrade from their 50 year old MGB: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=66780&p=857240&hilit=mgb#p857240

Nice looking vehicle, very well preserved.
Unfortunately a 20 y.o. car would have 600,000 km on it if I had it.

Occasionally I see a really nicely preserved NA and I think
"No need for an update - should've just kept making them like that forever."
