braided lines issues - advice please

Back to installation problems ... The mechanic who installed those lines left them in a dangerous way, regardless of the quality or brand of the product. Speak to the manager/owner, definitely not that mechanic. No mechanic should ever leave a customer at risk like that and get away with it.

Confirmed they are goodridge lines. Supplied by racing beat USA, part number 54520.. Built for 90-05 Miata. Might get in touch with them tomorrow.

Does anyone else have these?

As for the leak in the rear...

I've had rear brakes go on the road due to brake fluid leak after an hour or so of driving - was driving the vehicle home after purchase - indicated to turn right & applied brakes only to find pedal went all the way to the floor - given it's been some weeks, hope you're in a position to not have to be driving the vehicle.

Its dríven weekends only & is still drivable. when i say leak its a gradual seeping type. Ive topped up my fluid.

Hi,

Slightly off the point (sorry) - but can someone tell me how much difference braided brake lines make on a track like Wakefield park or Amaroo / SMSP south? Do you get better brake pedal feel? better safety? better times? all the above?

Assuming you run them with OEM discs and callipers and street / track pads etc are they worth the investment?

The standard rubber lines can and do swell during track work, causing the pedal to go soft, sometimes intermittently.
Braided brake lines stop this from happening, so your pedal remains firm, and consistent.

So yes to all the above, better feel, safety and times....

Definitely worth the relatively minor investment.
Also unlike many other track mods, doesn't make any detrimental difference to their street performance.

Yes if you want to track your car..braided lines will keep the braking feel & functionality consistent. I run carbo tech xp10's on stock discs with the lines & they can definitely handle the abuse + perform very well.

Visited the shop today, mechanic was very supportive/informative & ran me through everything. The fronts need to be at a length where there is enough slack yet not excessively long, these were adjusted so that when at full lock they bend in such a way that they avoid the tyre - a relatively easy & simple fix. The rear mounting unit had to be fastened tighter, the way it is built.. The thread tapers off at the end, so fluid was escaping via the very small gap..this too was adjusted. We then tested everything while the car was on the hoist, by pumping the brakes on/off hard & confirmed no leak. If it did keep leaking there was a replacement set aside incase.

Just goes to show the level of detail needed to modifying or fitting parts to your car, also important to regularly inspect keep a sharp eye/ear/feel for these things.

& that's the way uh-huh uh-huh I like it.

I'm very suprised all those checks weren't carried out initially. Glad its all sorted.

I suggest you check the lines fairly frequently untill you ar comfortable that there is no area rubbing. I have a pre-event of all my brake lines and rotors.
